Needs setup; Great for home or hobby
Got this recently as part of a package deal (with the WEN 1x30 belt and disc combo sander) for hobbies and general home use. It is quiet, easily operated and has the speed adjustments I need for my stuff at home. It came needing assembly with the needed almost all the tools, and very clear directions for getting this done. Parts made of exposed metal came treated with either oil or cosmoline (smells soooo good) and these need to be cleaned off. The user manual advises acetone or similar cleaner for this. Setting up out of the box: The user needs to attach the press tower to the powder-coated cast-iron base (using your own wrench), the cast and machined-flat table to the press tower, and the drive assembly to the top of the tower. Once this is complete, the user needs to clean the mating surfaces of the chuck and spindle, then use a hammer to attach the chuck onto the spindle. I did this, tested the trueness of my chuck assembly, and discovered some wobble. A couple more medium whacks with the hammer, and the chuck was set nice and true. The table on mine was not squared to the drill bit axis. I used a long Philips screwdriver stuck in the chuck, handle side down, with a small carpenter's square, to get the left-to-right (X-axis) alignment correct. The indicators for degrees of tilt on the table should not be trusted out of the box. Luckily, the table is square front to back (Y-axis), as this is not adjustable on this model. I then adjusted the pulleys to the lowest speed, easily done with no tools. My impressions: Once set up, I was able to rattle off several small home and hobby projects that had been held up due to needing good, 90-degree holes made, including counter-sinking, using the chuck stop on the left side of the press. Get yourself some small C-clamps for holding work steady on the table (different hardnesses in the wood grain can can make pull your project out of alignment) and supply your own work light to shine on the project area, as one is not included with this model. *For the money* this is a good little beginner drill press that has met and, in some cases exceeded, my expectations. If you want more bells, whistles and convenience, spend more on another more expensive model. For occasional home and hobby uses, this is a great little press.

So far so good
Used about a week or so, and found no issues with this drill press. I'll come back later if there will be any problem. The only desired feature I'm missing on this model is the vertical adjustment missing miter bar with geared elevator. I know the next model on the higher end has this feature, but I don't think it is worth another $100.

The motor is not very strong.
Even with setting the belts and pulleys to the slowest and strongest speed, the motor will frequently stop when using a large bit in metal.

Excellent tool
It's a basic no frills press that I've used about 20 separate times in the month I've owned it. Definitely worthy of any DIY'rs workbench I also purchased the vise model WEN DPA423 to pair with it. Well worth the investment

Tabletop drill press
It's well built and working as I expected. I have used it very little but completely satisfied.

Precision
This is worth all the money for it had to drill oak hand rails and it did it precisely

Too Short? Great for small work!
The distance from the adjustable height plate to the chuck is really short. Remember when buying: the larger diameter bit you use, the longer they are, and you probably want to add a vice or work table to the drill to hold your piece steady. After all that, you aren't left much space for your materials! Great for small work, with small holes!

pretty decent for a first drill press
I liked how easy it was to set up. I've used it to drill about 100 holes and it worked perfectly out of the box. The only thing I'm uncertain is how well it drills through metal.

Good Drill Press just know what you are buying.
Keep in mind how much you paid for this unit, it's hard to imagine it was delivered to my door for the price I paid. As usual Amazon did exactly what they said they were going to do, on time, no grief thank you Amazon. Ok the drill press, easy to assemble everything fit, no hardware missing. good travel, strong spring return. steady base and fairly quiet. the reason I didn't give it a 5 ? a tiny bit of chuck wobble, it's minimal but it's there I tried re-seating the chuck several times and it was consistent. if you are drilling tight dowel pin holes or making precision holes in soft material (model air plane guys) then this might not be the drill press for you. if you are the other 98% of the population then it will work just fine. second thing, at slow speed it's a bit fast (986 RPM according to my tach). If your are drilling low carbon or stainless steel 5/16" or larger then it might be a little bit hard on bits. last one and I'm reaching here, it has a toggle switch for on and off (yes lots of them do ) if it's turned on and you plug it in it will start, I completely understand that to avoid that would take a magnet contractor and extra expense I am just sharing my humble opinion here. I would defiantly buy another one (actually I have too, I loaned it to my brother in law and I,m sure I will never see it again) and I would be comfortable recommending it to a friend

Very easy to install and assemble
Here is a machinist perspective point of view. Being around machinery for about 30 years I can say that this chineese manufactured machine is very well built for small job projects. You really have to be gentle with this type of machine . Very easy to install and assemble. **IMPORTANT NOTICE*** False Advertisement ! It is not the speeds specified... Pulley Speeds: 5 Speeds (620, 1100, 1720, 2340, 3100) Real speeds are 740, 1100, 1530, 2100, 3140 for those looking for a specific speed I gave it a 5 stars anyway Hopefully they will correct this on the near future

Great drill press for the price
Great drill press, easy assembly (10 minutes). Speeds aren't exactly as described, but the unit has plenty of power. I use mine for metal, so I just have it set to the slowest setting which also provides the most torque. The resistance/return force in the feed arm was a little tight do I adjusted that as per the manual by easing the return spring. This is a very basic drill press, great for home use or very light industrial applications. There are no bells and whistles. There's no alignment guide on the table or column, which is a little annoying because as you raise of drop the table it will shift left/right and the center hole may become misaligned with the bit. I use a small PVC pipe in the hole to to keep it zeroed & aligned with the bit. The two hex nuts that act as a depth stop beside the depth scale also tend to rattle and slide when the drill is turned on. I replaced them with nylon threaded nuts and now they don't move and hold adjustment perfectly. The press itself fully assembled weighs 34 lbs / 15kg, so it's incredibly light as far as presses go and easy to move around. I use mine both affixed to a table and as a portable unit I clamp to portable work table outside. As far as the build quality, all the metal is solid, no rust, the angles are squared correctly and it's a very solid unit. I strongly recommend using cutting/tapping oil on all meterial that's not wood and just go easy. Your bits and this bench drill will handle any project as long as you go easy and apply proper pressure. If in doubt, use slower speeds.
