The thread pitch is not 1. I have two different brands of m6-1.00 and I'm lucky to get any of them in a full turn.

Works for a roof rack.

We removed a roof rack from a 2006 Dodge Caravan. The FACTORY method that the roof rack was attached was with these 6mm rivnuts. We measured the donor van as to where the first rivnut was located (inches back from top of windshield). We drilled ten 11/32" holes using the existing holes in the roof rack after a tiny pilot hole was drilled in the center of each hole first. There is an easy way to install them with just a few pieces of hardware, just google "How to put rivet nut or threaded insert without special tools".

These are neat!

I have no idea why I didn't know about these years ago. Larger ones held my Jeep's skid plate on the frame where it is impossible to use a normal nut. I used these smaller ones to bolt the small rear bumperettes onto my '71 Land Cruiser. My wife couldn't even get her little hands behind the frame with a nut. These install from the front and expand as they pull down with a special tool and lock in place. I don't have the tool, so I used a washer and castle nut. (Look online for instructions). In total, these are great, and Amazon is the best place to buy them.

These are the handiest little fasteners I have ever used!

I used something similar in a manufacturing/fabrication company I worked for years ago. They're awesome for tinkering around, inventing, etc. My only complaint would be that they took too long to get here.
