Looks great, ring not included

Yes, it's just the letters and numbers. The life ring is not included. There are some symbols included too (dolphin, ship's wheel, anchor) to dress up your life ring a little more. The letters/numbers are tapered smaller at the bottom to make them fit around the ring better. The finished product looks great with black lettering on a white life ring.

Misleading product listing - Read it CAREFULLY & ignore picture

I don't have any complaints about the "Boat Life Ring Letter Kit" because I haven't opened it yet. However, when shopping for items I expect the purchase to include items as pictured unless a clear disclaimeris part of the caption. Nowhere does it say "life ring is not included". Even re-reading the description several times (by several family members) the same impression resulted - the purchase was for a "Boat Life Ring Letter Kit" - NOT for a "Letter kit for application to boat life rings." Splitting hairs? No - it simply is a product description with an error by omission. How hard would it be to clearly state the ring is NOT part of the deal? Now, experienced boaters may be aware that the ring pictured is a fairly expensive item - but as a non-boat person buying the thing for my adult children who just purchased their first sailboat I had no clue - and the listing did not help me make an informed buying decision. I was surprised to receive a small box with a pack of letters, went back to the listing, discovered (after a bit of confusion) that the picture clearly showed the ring, the description can be read to imply a ring is part of the "kit" and no note stating "this listing is for a letter kit ONLY - ring is not included" is to be found Finally, after searching for "life rings" and seeing prices for the ring pictured *without* letters I figured out this wasn't a complete kit, and that the pictured ring is significantly more expensive than the kit. IMO a buyer shouldn't have to do detective work in advance to figure this stuff out. It should be crystal clear in the product description, and I feel this one is (albeit maybe unintentionally) misleading. It certainly warrants a change in description. So now I need to buy my kids a new life ring as well, as I don't have any idea if the letters will be compatible with their old, slightly discolored ring. And last - the letter kit seems quite expensive for stick-on letters, which are not exactly expensive to manufacture - especially in China, where these are made. So - without even opening the kit, I am quite dissatisfied, and as returning it is too much hassle for products in the $20 range I'm stuck with it.

Good Quality

To be silly, we wanted to put a name on our 3-man rubber raft. One thing I didn't realize, was that the letters are slightly smaller at the bottom, than they are at the top. Just a heads up to anyone who is planning on using them in a straight line. They are designed to go in a circle. It worked for us anyway, we just made our letting go in a slight curve. It's looks great, and appears to be good quality, and should stay in place when we put our raft in the water. We are very pleased with how it looks.

Curling letters

The letters looked good going on but once they were outside for a week they curled off of the life ring!!

good quality plastic

the plastic used for the lettering is pretty thick, which leads me to think it may stand up better to the elements if you're like me and leave the life ring out most of the time. I guess I'll know better after the season ends.

Looks like printed letters

The template wasn't very clear/easy to use but other than that, I really liked the product. It seems like the letters will stay on and it was easy to use. Looks great.

Waste of money

Extremely disappointed in this Taylor Made product! It only lasted 3 weeks before letters started to shrink and curl. Taylor Made should not be selling such a low quality product. It now makes me question the standards on Taylor’s other products. I wish I had done a better job of reading the poor reviews on this product before I purchased. I was in a hurry and because of Taylor’s “supposed” reputation of quality I bought it without checking. I will never do that again on a Taylor product, I no longer have faith in them as a vendor.
