Great product however one of the outlets went out and would not reset. We are awaiting a refund as of now but will purchase another in hopes it will work fine.

The idea is fantastic but execution lacking

Used the distribution box for my RV. Turning a 50 AMP RV plug into six 120 volt 20 amp outlets AND a 30 AMP 240 outlet was cool, not to mention my RV was using a 50 amp pass through plug. Seemed like a win win. HOWEVER I have a Samsung dryer in a shed next to the RV (temp home while I build my home). We needed to power the dryer from the Southwire box. I bought a 30 amp extension cord and tried to plug the dryer into the cord. However the 50 amp GFCI at the temp power pole popped when I plugged in the dryer to the 30 amp cord! The distribution box has an issue with the 30 amp plug. Missing ground? The 30 amp extension cord has a light showing it has power but it hates the $1,000 Samsung dryer I try to plug into it.

Power distribution with safety in mind.

I use three of these in our company, we use them for construction sites and for additional power distribution at an outdoor music venue. All the outlets are GFCI protected and the breakers are in the box so a reset is fast and easy. This is the only way to go for temp power needs.

Durable

I don't know if they recommend using this in a home.....but I do...I have a tiny home and I use the 50 amp and ran 2 heaters and a vacuum (Kirby). My fridge and my coffee maker (keurig) ...double portable cooking stove all at once and it never let me down.. I hate to give my weight..but I stood on it to reach for something and held my 200lb butt...it is a great unit...I'm moving now and have to sell it cuz I don't need it..sniff sniff...but I know it will be useful for someone else..I do recommend this for all your projects. Great product!

Temp Power

As an electrical contractor I have been making temp panels for years and its always a struggle to supply enough power to everyone on the job. These arent cheap but neither is a well made temp panel. I like that they are easy to load and move around. I think they are well built and will last quite a while even with the rough workers abusing it. The one concern I have is when used as a temp panel the outlet covers are not weather proof when in use. The electrical code is very specific on outlets covers have to be labeled for EXTRA DUTY and they have to be weather proof while in use. I haven't been hit on these yet but I can see that being an issue. As for now I try and only use them on jobs that will be enclosed. Other than that they seem like a great box. I have two now and hope to have more in the future.

This thing ROCKS!

This is just exactly what I needed! Shipping was speedy and (heavy) package arrived unscathed (YAY!). Our Whisperwatt generator has a California style CS-63 50A connection on it. I wanted a 'spider' with the plug style (opposite gender). This was the ticket! That way, I can just use a straight through CS-63 50A cord. Finding anything with the CS-63 style connectors is a challenge, so thank you Southwire for making this! I really like that is has the CS-63 pass thru connector on it so more than one of these can be daisy chained together. I also really like the NEMA L6-30 outlet, in addition to the (6) NEMA 5-20 outlets. This is a GREAT product! Great deal and more than pleased with product!

First one was dead, second was perfect.

First off, this is a heavy duty unit with a surprisingly compact size. Does what it’s supposed to and I feel will last a long time. Wiring inside is neat and well built. Now the bad. The first unit I ordered had three dead gfi’s. Tested with a meter and had power to all the right places, but 3 of the 6 gfi were bad so only three of the six 20 amp outlets had power. It comes with a check list listing all the components tested and working yet the first unit was half dead. Return through Amazon was easy and the second is flawless. I’m sure my dead unit slipped through the cracks but I would use a volt meter and check everything yourself before using to make sure it’s ready for whatever task you’re using this spider box for.
