Blocks water flow from Driveway into Basement

I appreciate how easy this is to apply and how effective of a water barrier a bead of this makes when applied where the driveway meets the basement foundation. I have used it to prevent water from rolling off the concrete slab of a driveway and then down the walls of the basement, where water makes its way into the basement interior through cracks in the foundation. I simply clean the cement with a wirebrush and vacuum up any debris, and apply sikaflex liberally. I use a wooden, coffee stirring stick to feather the bead into the driveway, on one hand, and into the cement foundation on the other. If heavily applied, you get 10 linear feet per tube. If moderately applied, 15 linear feet per tube. I reapply it every 5 years. Its a good value for it helps keep my basement dry

Like silicone, but you can paint it!

I used to swear by high end silicone, mostly from GE, with its good adhesion, resistance to the weather, and long warranty. Then I had to do some outdoor painting. Paint would not take to the old silicone. Even worse, it was very difficult to get the old silicone off. Won't make that mistake again! This product is a urethane. It is flexible, adheres well, weathers well, and I can think of it like silicone. As a bonus, it can be painted! Hooray! An exterior sealant that sticks, protects, maintains its flexibility, and can be painted. Finally!

Sikaflex sealant - Works where others won't

6 years later, this stuff is still working. I used this to fill some cracks in my cement garage floor. First I cleaned out all the cracks. I even used isopropyl alcohol to remove any grease or dirt from the cracks. I then took a dremel moto tool with the ball shaped cutter and lightly shaped the crack top into more of a gutter shape. This widens the top of the crack just a bit and gives the Sikaflex somewhere to sit prior to draining into the crack. These were basically small cracks, so opening up the top was necessary or you wouldn't be able to get the Sikaflex to drain into the crack. The largest crack I filled was about 1/4 of an inch wide. Not one crack has had the Sikaflex pull off or come away from the side and it's been 6 years of midwestern winters with cold, heat, snow, ice, salt, etc. This is a self leveling product and has the consistency of watered down caulk. It takes at least a week for it to cure. Follow the instructions, clean the cracks and be patient. This stuff is the real thing.

Difficult to use

It was very hard to get the sealant out of the container. You have to push a lot.

Awesome stuff.

Can tell this stuff is made to last. Sealed up all the mouse holes in our house & used this as the final step. If I find any more holes that need sealing up, I will definitely get this again.

Lo usé para tapar una filtración que tenía en un domo en el baño. Se filtraba agua entre el domo y el cemento... lo coloqué en la unión y se acabó la filtración de agua
