Very nice set at a very good price - A+
Very cute, 7-piece set at a great price! I received the Oceanstar Bamboo utensil set a few days ago. Shipping with Prime was quick and the package was here when expected. This utensil set is really nicely wrapped - if you were looking for a housewarming gift, or a Secret Santa gift, this set looks very polished and professional right out of the box, which is a big deal when you're shopping kitchen items. The quality is great. The utensils and the container seem like they'll hold up well to repeated use. The informational pamphlet that came with the utensil set didn't seem to match the utensils, as it talked about bamboo furniture and the furniture-making process. There were no guidelines or tips that were applicable to this set. It didn't bother me, but the insert went directly into the garbage. If literature is going to be included, it might be nice if it talked about the actual utensils, or the sustainability of bamboo. I was expecting to see relevant information, like do the utensils need to be mineral oiled or not. There was a potent smell when I first unwrapped the set from the plastic, but it quickly disappeared and was totally unnoticeable within minutes. No worries. The weight of the utensils is good, as is the size. I'm really quite impressed with this set and will look for the Oceanstar Design Group when I'm purchasing kitchen items in the future. A+ product!

Good product, not great, but glad I bought it
The first time I washed the box, the joints where the pieces of wood connect gave way and the box was about to fall apart...I probably should have returned it, but being a bit of a woodworker, I simply got out my wood glue and my clamps, glued the joints, clamped them together, and let them dry. It has been perfect ever since, and because it is bamboo it matches many other products in my kitchen (dish drying rack, cutting boards, paper towel dispenser, banana hanger) so in that regard I really like it. It looks like it belongs because it matches so many other things...it is handy, sitting on my counter top right beside the stove, and it saves me space in my drawers by not having the utensils in the drawers. I like it. I wonder if it was me that caused the issue with the wood joints by washing it and not drying it immediately...that's another reason I didn't return it and chose to repair it myself.

Some prep required!
I love these, I really do. BUT! Getting to love it took a little work. Common sense when buying a bamboo product like this is that it has to be seasoned. No big deal, have some mineral oil on hand and a little patience to let them sit for a day or two before using them. Easy enough, and definitely needed since these were exceeding dry. Not so much common sense is that these were also VERY rough, as in OUCH! A splinter! kind of rough. Don't know about you, but I definitely don't want slivers of bamboo in my food unless I PUT them in there. That being the case, the other thing you're going to need is a fine grade sanding film/paper. I had some Testor's film on hand from my modelling days and it did the trick nicely. Just spend a few minutes lightly sanding each piece before use and you're good to go. With that done, I'm quite happy with these, they fit right into my cooking routine without a hitch.

I bought them at a super low price
These arrived with a strange film on them that took several washings to get off. I bought them at a super low price, because I love bamboo. I have only ever purchased a couple other bamboo items, and never experienced the filmy stuff on them, so I'm not sure if this is a typical protective coating found on high-quality bamboo dishes. I admit, with all the chemicals we use on pretty much everything, it made me a little wary about the safety of the utensils. I have used these almost every day, and I think they are very sturdy and work well. I think it's important to note that, just like any other "wooden" utensil, you don't want to leave these soaking in water for too long, because they are more porous than plastic or metal, and that might introduce unwanted mold or bacteria. Though they say they are dishwasher safe, for the same reason, I hand wash mine only.

Great kitchen tools!
This was a birthday gift for my nephew who's just starting to get into cooking. He LOVES these tools and uses them on a daily basis!

Great Quality, Great Vaiue, Great Customer Service
Highly recommend this product from Oceanstar! Utensils are solid, and there is no trace of chemical sealants like other bamboo utensils that I have seen. The set has all the utensils that you would need, and they withstand considerable amounts of heat. I make stews, eggs, stir-fry, etc. without any problems or discolorations. I did, however, have a problem with the crock. It came cracked in the inside. I called the customer service number that was included in the original package, and to my surprise, I was able to immediately speak with an actual person. The representative apologized for the defect, and without hesitation, she sent out another crock that day. She only asked that I send them a picture of the crack for quality control purposes if/when I have the chance. It was promising that they seemed to really care about their quality. I received the new crock about 3 days later, and it was great. The crock is sturdy and easy to wipe clean. Also, I don't have to worry about mold because it dries well. Overall, great purchase!

Nice starter or complete replacement set
These bamboo utensils made a very nice gift for my daughter who ignored all her cooking lessons at home and now has to figure out how to do it as an adult. Fortunately, she still has a dad to go out and buy her the right equipment and walk her through the process. So she was just delighted to get these bamboo utensils. I haven't seen it yet, but she says the carrier looks really nice on her counter top. If you need a starter set or just to replace all the old ones that have become junkers, this seems like a nice set. I will update over time as I see how they factor into her kitchen and whether they stand the test of time. At this point, this set comes with high recommendation

Just what I wanted
This is a very nicely finished set. Just what I wanted, the tools. The countertop box fell apart in 3 days. But I did not purchase it for a countertop display to begin with.

Great For Your Non-Stick Cookware....Compact Size
Quick Review: These wooden utensils will not scratch my pots like metal utensils do, or melt and deform like plastic ones. This was the perfect fit for our kitchen! Each tool works perfectly. They are easy to clean and very sturdy, despite being light weight. The Bamboo holder is quite simple, yet the whole set has a certain beauty to it. Much more pleasing to look at than metal or plastic alternatives. Overall I would recommend this product, even if you already have metal / plastic ones. It looks great, works great, and it's compact too. You can't beat that!

HAVE HAD BETTER QUALITY
I have old bamboo utensils and the new ones I received don't compare in terms of quality. The real test will be the dishwasher and how they hold up after several washings. Would recommend buying bamboo utensils in a store in person so you can see and feel the quality.
