Simple and traditional is best!

Artichokes are one of my favorite things about springtime. I grew up eating them steamed whole and served with drawn butter … yum. Since then I’ve tried cooking them various different ways in order to save time or labor — but nothing beats the traditional method of steaming. These simple frames allow each artichoke to sit comfortably just above the water line and gently steam away, keeping even the stem from getting all soggy and waterlogged. So the bad news is that it still takes 30-40 minutes to cook these delights. The good news is that these frames make it as easy as possible to do it right.
