nice wall ball

I wasn't sure what to expect with this ball. I thought it would be smaller. It is well made. No seams popping open or open spots. It is awesome for exercising alone or with a partner. I even hung it up and used it as a punching bag. You can use this a lot of different ways. This ball is a lot of fun and will help you get into shape.

February 20, 2016 As of this writing the pricing for the three weights of these balls is nonsensical. The 10-pounder costs $79.99 and the 20-pounder costs $99.99, so you'd expect the 16-pounder to come in somewhere around $89.99, right? Well, it costs less than half that, $44.50. *** And as of this writing those prices are high. I would not pay $79.99 for this 10-pound, padded, outsized medicine ball, but if I did at 13 inches in diameter that would cost me $0.07 per cubic inch, which you probably already knew because you knew the formula for the volume of a sphere is 4/3 pi r-cubed. =$79.99 / (4 / 3) * pi * radius^3 =$79.99 / (4 / 3) * pi * 6.5^3 =$79.99 / (4 / 3) * pi * 274.625 =$79.99 / (4 / 3) * 862.7598825 =$79.99 / 1,150.34651 cubic inches =$0.069535569 cents per cubic inch See? Told ya. *** It ships with no AA batteries in the box, which is the correct number for this particular product. *** There's a seeming seam on the ball for some reason I can't figure out. I understand that lacing on a football helps the thrower throw. I understand that the seam on a baseball not only holds it together but also helps it curve. But I don't understand the need for the lacing across the "front" of this sphere. It's not like the manufacturer can't seal the ball without them. And it's not like you're going to throw perfect spirals with a ten-pound sphere. If there's a good reason for this lacing then I take back what I'm about to say, which is that the lacing is extraneous and had to have added to the cost of making the ball, which had to have added to the sales price, which as I've already said is high enough. *** With all that said, the Lifeline Wall Ball strikes me as being of high-quality construction, and I imagine it will hold up as well as competing products costing less. What it doesn't serve well as is a bowling ball (no finger holes), a basketball (won't fit through hoop), and a beach ball (weighs 10 pounds, remember). For the high price I subtract two stars from five.

Big, squishy, and perfect for wall ball and other exercises

First - a description. This is basically a giant, padded medicine ball. It's bigger than a basketball, weighs ten pounds, and is a little bit squishy. The outer casing is a nice feeling polyester with a leather (or maybe faux-leather) insert for the laces. It's well made and sturdy, and I'm reasonably confident that it can take a sustained beating. The biggest question on a wall ball seems to be whether the weight gets off-center over time, leading to weird flight dynamics. Lifeline's ball seems solid, but only time will tell on that question. Second - some history. There is a crossfit exercise called "wall balls" - essentially, you hold a medicine ball, drop into a squat, explode back up, and do a press to throw the ball onto a target, usually about ten feet up a wall, then catch the ball and repeat until pumped. You can use a regular medicine ball for wall ball exercises if your wall can take it, or you can use a padded medicine ball like this one, which is therefore also called a "wall ball." It is basically a padded medicine ball that's great for throwing, catching, plus the usual stuff you use medicine balls for like twists, crunches, etc. (There's a different kind of specialized medicine ball called a "slam ball" that's specialized, for, well, "slam ball" exercises.) I think that whether you are getting your first medicine ball or already have one and want a second ball that will go a little easier on your walls, the Lifeline Wall Ball is a good choice. As I said, it's bigger and squishier than a standard medicine ball, which makes it fun to catch, hold and throw, and it seems to be solidly made Recommended.

Great addition to my at home workouts! Will help me get to areas I need to work on. My kids think this ball is a toy for them. Would recommend this to others looking for a ball to add to their workouts.

Great quality, larger than expected. Lots you can do with it - not just wall exercises.

This is a cross between a football, basketball and medicine ball. The covering is similar to the textured vinyl bottom found on many tool bags - so it's durable and easy to grip. It's also a LOT bigger than I expected. I have a 10# medicine ball - that's about 30% smaller. I've included two photos - one with the Everlast medicine ball for comparison, and another closeup of the material. You can see it's designed to be a little slick and not damage surfaces. I'd never heard of a wall ball before, so I checked out Youtube. Since I'm using this at home, I can't really use a wall. But I love this for stretching, twisting and light-weight exercises. Since it's so much larger than a medicine ball, you need a wider grip. It's a totally different workout. The construction is top-notch, and it feels heavier than 10# - probably because of the size. If you're looking for a wall ball - or just a different type of medicine ball - check this out!
