REVIEW PLUS HEALTH TIPS

I went to the hospital to get an ultrasound. Even though six hospital staff had their masks hanging on one ear, I felt pretty safe with these masks. I wore 2 masks at once (safer with more layers) and used a Velcro brand strap to hold the strings/stretchy bands behind my head, so the mask's strings would not hurt the back of my ears. The strings/bands still put a liitle pressure on the top of the ears with the velcro strap but it is not bad. The unique design (although slightly odd looking) and structure really holds up and makes them durable. The "weld" marks are not holes. They increase the strength of the mask and because of this, the masks hold tight and gives about a 95% seal around your face. I mean you see the mask gently pressing the flesh of your face with no gaps. I don't mean that it blocks 95% of airborne particles through the filter/fabric. I do not know that fact. If the the bar is secured just right on the nose, there is only a tiny leak out the top area above your nose. I think that leaving the nose bar in a narrow pinched form made the best seal for me. This does make mask go up a little between the eyes and the small air leak did fog up my protective safety glasses. I wonder if putting a piece of tape around the nose bridge area of the mask would close off enough of the air leak to prevent fogging on the glasses. It is worth the try. I saw a picture of a doctor getting his mask taped to his face to stop air leaks. With the method I described (2 masks with Velcro straps and making sure the masks are sealed around your face and keeping the nose bar snug around your nose, these masks are very good.) I placed the outer mask slightly higher than the inner mask so the nose bars would not be one directly on top of another. Rather, the upper mask nose bar was slightly above the inner mask nose bar. This way the seal was still good maybe even better around the upper bridge of the nose. A bonus, the masks smell really good and clean like new sheets to me and it is easy to breath even with two masks. They come in a resealable little bag that even has a moisture silica pouch to keep it fresh and new. I did not give five stars because of the price and the fact that using only one mask which is kind of thin, would not be five star protection in my opinion. I don't know how a real scientific study would rate these. I do think they create a great seal on the face. I did my own test. With two masks I tried to blow black pepper in a bowl and saw absolutely no movement. I also could not move a stove flame with my exhale with two masks on. I know viruses in aerosol are tiny but these masks definitely appear to block regular breath, and it would appear, large particles like saliva droplets. After one week of using the same two masks together at once (in my house around my family) it starts getting a little harder to breath. I think this is a good thing because that means they are trapping particles. I wore the same 2 masks in my house around my family (just in case I got covid-19) for almost two weeks before one of the stretchy strings broke and I was really pulling and stretching the strings/stretchy bands hard. If you don't have Velcro straps: If you want to lessen the pull of the strings what you do is only use the outer mask's strings/stretchy bands on your ears. I just tie off the inner masks strings in an lose knot- one not too tight knot per side. Do not tuck in the knots inside the mask. That will compromise the seal around the face. This way, if or when the outer mask's strings/bands possibly break from harsh treatment, you could still use the inner mask. I just really do not want to get covid-19. I understand that it causes clots (my aunt had a stroke while battling covid) and attacks the lungs and heart. Even some healthy young people with mild symptoms are reporting that the symptoms are lasting months. My advice to anyone would be get as healthy as possible. Take B12 (so vital for red blood cells and oxygen transport) plus we eventually die without b12. Watch "What the health" on YouTube and "Game Changers" and check nutrition facts.org on YouTube avoid oil eats some mixed unsalted nuts for good fat with meals, take 2000iu vitamins d3 daily. Every bit you improve your diet and mind is great. Meditating (nonreligious, it is simply awareness and compassion training) daily worked incredible for me and cured my anxiety. It was not overnight. I kept improving of weeks and months. It has been a few years and I keep feeling better. Watch everything by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche on YouTube. This monk cured his panic attacks through meditation. Also watch videos by neuroscientist Richard j. Davidson. He has one called "Transform your mind, Change tour brain.". This video was the incredible scientific proof that led me to start meditating. It truly was a miracle for me. Netflix has a good show called "Headspace guide to meditation.". Take care

Good for dust, probably not good for anything else

I purchased these to provide some measure of protection from diatomaceous earth dust and they did an excellent job (once properly secured) of keeping the stuff out of my nose and mouth while I was putting it down. It's important to know that these are NOT medical grade masks and if you're looking at them as a means of medical protection, the likelihood that they will be any more effective than any other type/style of mask (in other words - completely useless) is slim, at best.

Good, not excellent, but better than homemade and others I have seen/tried

Here's the deal, I started out 2020 with 3 or 4 N95 3M masks I used for car work. Things have changed...we are now in a situation where I am Googling "how to make face masks". Maybe that brought you to this listing as well. I tried my best to get detailed pics of what other reviews are complaining about with regards to holes being present in the surface material. I've worn the first 3M N95 mask until it was shedding fibers. I need an alternative for quick trips to the store. These are available. Here we are. Are they perfect? No. If worn correctly do they do a decent job? Yes. They DO NOT have "holes" in them like other reviewers suggested. They have clear portions from the polyethylene layers being heat treated so the layers stick together; this is normal production for these. Was it off-putting at first, yes. But these masks have standard production measures that are in line with NIOSH standards from what I can tell. PLUS, they don't smell like the armpit section of your old shirts. Subjective review: -I wore one while going on a run, it's harder to breathe than with no mask -Was I happy I had this one on when I saw other folks wearing nothing? Yes. -The mask "sucks" in when I am breathing in and it's secured over my ears, nose piece bent appropriately -The mask vents out the sides/bridge when I am breathing out Objectively: -I typically wear both N95 "valved" and P100 North (also valved) full respirator with protective glasses on. I do not notice the glasses fogging up with either of those, however, I do notice some fogging while wearing this mask with the same glasses in similar conditions -Only conclusion I can draw is my expiration is causing the glasses to fog up when I exhale -I find myself adjusting this one some, but my scalp and ears are not uncomfortable as with the 3M N95 Again, are they perfect? No. I think they do a batter job than most homemade masks I see newscasters wearing. I think you'll be happy with your purchase in a time of need as long as you are okay with the above.

Best masks for my small narrow face

These are good masks for an adult with a smaller or thin face or teen. It’s hard for me to get a good fit without gaps and these work.. The molding at the nose helps obtain a custom fit and there is extra room to breathe at the nose so I have no trouble wearing it. I feel confident flying in these.
