Very sturdy

Very durable and cuts well. When cutting large amounts of lumber it was helpful to have a second battery to keep the flow going. In bethel battery charge lasted for at least 30-40 minutes of heavy cutting

Buy the best the first time

Wanted a hand planner for so long but couldn't make the investment. Purchased a less expensive WEN Hand Planner to save money, however, the first day using, 1 of the 3 blade broke and gouged my cedar slab. Needless to say I returned the unit to Amazon (received my credit), and order the Dewalt. I have always been a user of Dewalt tools and never had any problems. Why I spend my time and effort to save $60 will never be understood. This planner works like a charm. Took good solid cuts and never slowed the unit down. Depth cut know is indented and hold position as required. All tools provide for setup new blades and also you can use the carbide inserts for easy setup, change and sharping. Great tools

It does not come with carbide blades. It comes with high speed blades.

Good and bad aspects

If you're doing boards narrower than the planer it's great, but on wider boards it's difficult to get everything on the same plane. Even set at 0 it leaves a line and you have to use finesse to get it all good. Even then you'll still have to use a sander to make it all smooth. It also does clog easily on any setting above 0. The weird plastic tab that needs to be pushed up to plane makes it difficult to get in a rhythm of plane at the end of the board.

Dual planer blades as opposed to Bosch

Dual planer blades are a plus over slightly lower priced Bosch planer than has only single blade. This DeWault model is noisier than similar older models than we own. Air intake port is also smaller. Keep clear of sawdust to keep unit from overheating.

Great Bang for Buck

Great tool for easy to use and the price. Was able to finish attic project on time. Might be best to get this one, not the 20v as you will use a lot of battery to do what this one does.

This planer is wonderful. Makes my project go by a lot faster. Love the dust adapter.

Makes great sawdust

Works great, makes a real smooth surface. Also makes lots of chips/sawdust. I didn't worry about vacuum attachments, just like to make a big mess in the garage.
