Despite early issues, Air Eraser proved itself through ours of hard work
I want to give this 3 stars, I really do, but dangit this thing proved itself over the past weekend and made up for my initial frustrations (please read the full review for full details). When I first put it into service, I kept blasting media out of the threads in the cup. No matter how many times I removed and replaced the cup, it wouldn't seal properly. I cleaned the threads multiple times and kept trying to reseat it to no avail. I put some thread tape on it and managed to seal it temporarily and tried actually blasting, and the stream that came out was so anemic I gave up on this thing. The next day, after some sleep and some food, I decided to give it another shot, mainly because I was tired of dealing with Harbor Freight's recent batch of air erasers (wouldn't last more than an hour before something irreparably broke). I removed the cup, cleared the thread tape and removed the gasket at the top. I thoroughly cleaned it all and applied a *very light* coating of oil around the gasket, on the sides that weren't exposed to the blasting media, and gave it another go. This finally seemed to work as I no longer was losing media through the cup threads. The blast stream coming out of the tip still was somewhat anemic, but once I ran a few cups of AO through it, it opened up to a much more usable blasting stream. Because of the larger cup, I didn't have to stop nearly as often to refill it as I had to with HF air erasers, thus saving me untold amounts of time. I was able to power through work that would have taken me over half a day, within a few hours of time. Would I recommend this to other hobbyists/professionals? Absolutely. Once I got the kinks worked out and dialed in, this air eraser ended up being a powerhouse machine that allowed me to finish my prep for an upcoming event that also happens to be our largest event of the year. Pro's: Larger cup cuts down on how often you stop to refill it, saving lots of time Durable (so far), lasted through many hours of back to back hard work Once working, it worked great and helped power through hours of work Con's: Was finicky when I first got it. Took re-seating the gasket in order to get the cup to seal properly Took a few cups of media through the nozzle before it opened up to a useful media stream Cup threads can be a little finicky and easy to cross thread, take your time and be deliberate when reattaching the cup to the air eraser Verdict: If you etch or do fine sandblasting, safe yourself the headache and buy it.

Far superior to the Harbor Freight Air Eraser
OK... so saying it's superior to the Harbor Freight Air Eraser seems like a "Well... Duh" type of comment, but I say it hopefully to spare other people from wasting their money like I did on what's good looking junk, which is what the HF is... it looks good in the box, but performs horribly. First off, I really like the media reservoir being on the bottom instead of a top mounted gravity feed, it has a better balance to me. Second, I like it's larger size. Both of these attributes makes it easier to fill/re-fill the reservoir. I've only used it a couple of this so far, with more projects to come, and it operated without issues, giving me the exact results that I was looking for. For people getting into this for the first time... first do practice runs on the same type of material as what you plan to etch so you can get the feel of how this thing works, and "dial in" the air pressure to the media that gives you the type of results (shallow or deep) before you even get near what you plan to etch/texture.

Works without frustration of the Harbor Freight junk
I had a Harbor Freight air eraser and I'm not sure how I ever got anything ever done with it. If you read the reviews of these you come running here looking for something that actually WORKS. I am happy to report the Paasche air eraser is THE solution: it works as expected without clogging and without abrasive being sprayed everywhere but on your work piece. This is a clear case where spending $$$$ money on a GENUINE US MADE product is still the best choice. Sure it costs 2.5X the HF junk but at the end of the day the job is done and I'm not frustrated and covered in grit. That's worth money right there.

Way better than Harbor Freight tool - Updated after 3 months of use
Update after 3 months: the nozzle suddenly started getting clogged out of nowhere. It made the air eraser unusable, thankfully I bought the protection plan and they refunded the broken eraser. Because it is still the best option available, I bought another one but I definitely bought the replacement plan again in case this one gives out in 3 months too. I bought this to upgrade form the Harbor Freight air eraser and it is a million times better. There are some kinks you have to get used to but it works great. It does seem to go through sand pretty quickly though.

good beginner product
Easy to use, need to make sure you have safety gear :) Love using this to make unique gifts. Works better than etching creams.

Update: This tool continues to impress me!
I purchased this because I wanted a much deeper etch than etching creams can offer. I was not disappointed! I love this little gun!!! UPDATE: This little air eraser tool continues to impress me. I have been using this consistently without a problem. My only hurdle is sifting debris from the used media so I can use it again. I can't seem to find a sifter small enough. Maybe I will look for a slightly larger tip that can handle the tiny amount of debris that can't be sifted out in the used media.

Awesome!
I got this to use w my Cricut for etching glass. I also purchased a 5lb jar of Paasche grit. So far, this has worked awesome with no problems. Doesn't seem to require a lot of CFM. I recommend getting a small cabinet as it will blow around a lot of very fine dust and you don't want to breathe it in.

Dudas razonables
