Does not dispense food well - cheap construction.

First - it arrived with one corner broken. very cheap construction. At it's highest setting it still only dispenses about 10 pieces of food.

Decent Automatic Pet Feeder

The media could not be loaded. To be fair, this is the first automatic pet feeder I’ve owned, so have nothing to compare it with. The feeder is powered by a USB cable and takes three D-cell batteries for backup. The voice recording and re-recording works fine, though the pre-set volume is low, and the sound quality isn’t great. This isn’t something I care about, so wish there were an easy way to remove a recording without completely disconnecting all power sources to purge the memory. My cats actually jump when the recording suddenly goes off at mealtime, which is hilarious for me, but not so for them. The instruction manual is very thorough but after you go through the quick start set-up you have to find another section to set the mealtimes. The dispenser dispenses a single portion at a rate of 2.5 tsp, which makes using the Manual Feed button pretty useless. To get more food than that, the Manual Feed button has to be pressed multiple times. Holding the button down does nothing. This isn’t something I would use much anyway. I understand the reasoning behind the Lock button, but it’s annoying. After unlocking, the lock re-engages after 20 seconds. The Lock button also has to be pressed for several seconds to get it to unlock. The Display Panel is not back-lit and the text and icons are tiny making it difficult to see. For this reason, unless you want to get on your hands and knees to see the display while the feeder in on the ground, any programming changes, or manual feeding (to unlock the unit) must be done on a countertop. The auto feeder does work as programmed but is noisy when dispensing food. It’s also slow because it dispenses 2.5 teaspoons one at a time. But my cats find it entertaining. I found that 12 portions worked fine for my two cats and discovered that the voice recording will play at the first of each 6 portions dispensed. Although this feeder has several drawbacks, it’s well constructed and works fine. It’s a decent automatic pet feeder. PROS: Voice recording works, though isn’t the best quality. Powers with USB and 3 D-cell alkaline Batteries (for backup). Time can be set to display 12- or 24-hour format. Up to 4 meals can be programmed. Dispenses on time per programmed schedule. CONS: LCD Display Panel is not backlit and difficult to see. Navigation buttons and display are difficult to see when feeder is on the ground. Portion dispensing is 2.5 tsp. Instruction Manual is thorough, but not logically laid out. Noisy while dispensing food. Lock button locks after 20 seconds of inactivity.

Works great but setup was a bit challenging

This is a great automatic feeder for my car and allows me to better manage portions and timing of my cat eating. Before this, I'd just let my cat free eat but he would over-eat and throw up his food. This has been great at managing his food intake while not requiring me to keep too close an eye on the time. My biggest issue was the setup. The instructions were fine but getting it setup properly took a lot more time and wasn't as straight forward as I'd have liked. This caused me some frustration, but overall once setup it does it's job properly.

Feeds the kitties

So I had some difficulty with the settings on this initially. I'm not really sure if I was doing it wrong at first or what. I unplugged for a few hours and had my partner try it out and he had no trouble. The design is rather simplistic, which I like. It's a bit ugly but that doesn't matter. The portions seem incredibly small, but I guess that gives more control for exact amount or pets on diets. The audio recording is neat, though I wonder if it would confuse or sadden a lonely pet when you're away, since they can't see you or interact. The audio quality is a bit lacking, but not terrible. The food storage portion holds quite a lot of food

Another set of hands while you're away!

This automatic food dispenser has some really good features. You have an option to use batteries or connect it to a wall with the provided electrical chord. The time setting is military time and you can schedule up to four meals using a time schedule within the 24 hour military time clock. Also, you can record your voice so every time your dispenser is going to dispense food it plays for your pet. Depending on how long the serving size you programed keeps dispensing is the many times that recording will replay. This dispenser is perfect for short periods of time away from home. Features I like is the adjustable proportions and the schedule timer, the lid locked cover on the dispenser that prevents spills if it gets knocked over, and the versatile use of electric or batteries.

Awesome to feed animals while you're away.

Works great and the controls are easy to understand. My pups have knocked this over and while the food in the bowl gets knocked out, the food inside does not. Have yet to have any issues with it.
