A great safety addition to every lifevest.

Added one of these to every life jacket big and small. Only warning is this: Do not demonstrate to a toddler or this is all you will hear during your boating/lake adventure resulting in consuming alcohol too early in the day. LOL.

Loud but smaller than expected...

I have mixed feelings about this whistle in that it is very loud (as in it will hurt your ears when used) but it is barely as big as the first joint of my thumb.... Maybe I just have big hands but I expected more for my 5 dollars. The real reason I subtracted a star form my review is that the lanyard is short in my opinion. I had to put a D-ring on one of the shoulder traps of my PFD to snap the whistle to. If the lanyard were longer,I could of made a loop and snapped it to itself. -----Overall---- This is a good whistle and should get some ones attention is you need to.

Nice and loud

I was worried this would end up being cheap and junky. It’s nice and loud so I can have it on my life vest in the water.

Good Floating Whistle for the Price

This whistle is not heavy duty by any means, but it does work in very wet conditions. The float is super convenient, but makes the whistle difficult to attach to my PFD. I also don't think the clip is going to hold up for very long, though I haven't had any problems with it yet. You can definitely get some volume on the whistle, but you have to put in a little bit of effort. Overall, I'm satisfied with this whistle for the price, but I'm probably going to buy a nicer whistle sooner rather than later.

Dinged a star because they are overpriced. Having said that, they are loud whistles which float and perfectly attach to my PFD while I'm out kayaking. Whistle, horn, or other signaling device is required by law where I kayak. I just leave it dangling off my PFD and can grab it and whistle in a moments notice.

Must-have safety device for kayaking or canoeing

I needed a whistle to bring whitewater kayaking. I have, fortunately, never needed to use one, but most groups will want/need you to bring one along in case of emergency. This item is cheap, loud, easy to see, and floats. In addition, the lanyard is easy to hook on the loop inside my PFD pocket. I can use this quickly by reaching into the pocket and pulling it out without detaching it from my lifejacket. If it were to somehow get ripped from its hook it will float making it easy to recover. Finally, if it were to get completely lost it is cheap to replace. Highly recommended for anyone who needs a safety whistle.
