Could be better

The item is described as being made of "urethane." It turned out to be made of "urethane foam." There are all kinds of urethane plastics. Some are hard plastic, other urethane compositions are soft. But the foam composition for an outside louvred vent is not particularly rugged, especially in a hurricane zone like Florida. In my application, the urethane foam would not be much better than a decorative ornament, even though the model I ordered was supposed to be functional. When the item arrived at my address it was broken in several places, and I had to return it. Amazon was very good about returning it, and giving me a full refund. But I am fundamentally unhappy about the foam composition. I ended up ordering an item that was made by a custom shop, and constructed entirely of cedar. It was more expensive, but is well suited for the job. I think that wood or aluminum half round gable vent manufacturers should be better represented in the Amazon listings. The standard products listed by Amazon are insufficient. It is not easy to find one of the half round vents made in wood or aluminum.

Poorly primed foam board

Very disappointed in this item. I tried to see if I could contact the seller but was unable to locate that information. We ordered this product on October 7th and it arrived on the 10th which was nice. It was sent in a giant box with a lot of filler for protection on top but none on the bottom. The corner of the arch (right side when looking directly at it) was chipped off. We decided to go ahead with installing it because our window below it needed replacing and we had little time to do it. It was installed the 13th. We had not painted it because it was supposedly primed which should protect it from our fall weather. A week after, the prime coating began to crack, curl, and peel. It is foam underneath this thin layer. Our window now looks worse than it did before we replaced everything. Painting it first may have helped however should not have been necessary. There were no instructions stating the primed surface should not be exposed to outside elements. It has been in place only 2 1/2 weeks and looks terrible. I included photos.

Very Impressive Gable at a Great Price!

Don’t believe all the negative reviews about this gable, I too was hesitant after reading some but ordered it anyways, and I am glad I did. The quality is better than I thought, the primer coat added to the gable is done well, and after adding a few coats of paint it looks great. Very easy to install, (hint) pre drill your holes and counter sink them and this goes up within minutes. It’s been Up now about a month or so and has stood up very well against high heat from a southern exposure and a few nasty rain storms with high winds and still looks brand new. I would highly recommend this product for anyone looking to replace their gable.

Well-crafted product that does exactly what I expected.

Product fits well and looks great, although it took 3 coats of paint to cover it with the colour I wanted. Delivery time was a bit extended, but it still arrived within the promised timeframe. Very satisfied!

They cast this with the slat pattern upside downmuch for attention to detail.

Fearing the lifespan of paint won’t last as long with water sitting on top of all the flat spots of the slats facing up as opposed to down like they should be. At least they didn’t make them out of wood. Looks decent enough from the street
