Love this

This works better then any garlic device I have ever used

Probably not what you expect

So let me begin by saying I'm a chef with over 20 years experience. With that said do not waste your money unless you are confident in your ability to use this item with out said safety device. With the holder in place the garlic becomes bogged down and eventually the pressure from you trying to get the garlic to slice pops the holder off and the garlic goes flying. Without the holder this device will give you garlic that would pass Pauly from Goodfellas scrutiny. In other words it will give you super thin garlic and when cooking red sauce it's a must.

Just does not work well.

Just do yourself a favor and get a regular micro plane. It will be more efficient. The holder is pretty useless, as it is more of a hindrance than help. The only reason it’s getting 2 stars is because the slicer is ok - as long as you don’t bother with using the holder. The micro plane part is too short to be effective and ergonomic. You have to use way more passes back and forth for the same quantitative results as a regular micro plane, but qualitative results are the same. It’s a nice idea, in theory.

Flimsy

I had a small metal mandolin slicer to slice garlic that got damaged so i thought i would try this. I found it flimsy so when you put any pressure to slice garlic, the handle would bend. The grater section is below the slicer so you need to watch out otherwise you're slicing and grating at the same time. Nice thought, just poor execution.

Works well

Sturdy product. Super sharp blade. It sliced the garlic really well. The only issue I had was getting the sliding guard piece off to clean it.

Garlic as thin as tissue paper.

This is a useful gadget. I bought it for my husband because he loves to cook and loves to add garlic to all his recipes. This little thing slices garlic as thin as tissue paper or at least as thin as regular paper. Easy to use and easy to clean.
