Great tool for price

Saved me drilling a 4" hole in a seal plate and multiple 1" for wire runs. Havent had long but works very time like I need it to.

Nice Drill - but used open package

Drill appears to operate as it should, disappointing, That packaging was open and drill obviously used before …. Expected better from Porter cable store… will not buy again

Why did I wait until now!

The one tool I never had was a hammer drill. Pretty much everything else, and those few times I needed to drill into concrete....well I just sucked it up and used my regular drill for what seemed an eternity, sometimes breaking the bits in the process. Had to do some more and bit the bullet and bought this little gem. What a difference...5/32 long concrete bit plus the built in stop gauge and those holes for 2 3/4” tap cons was like a hot knife thru butter! Highly recommend this drill. One of my best purchases ever!

Great medium-duty hammer drill

Like most everything from Porter-Cable, this seems to be a quality tool! I recently drilled eight holes about 3 inches deep in very hard concrete, and the hammer drill performed very well. the reason for only four stars is the fairly useless side handle and depth gauge attachment. You simply cannot get it tight enough to prevent it from slipping off the collar and then becoming a spinning menace when it contacts the chuck or bit. It fell off every time I used it, which was three times before I threw it in the tool box and used a piece of tape on my bit for gauging depth. No amount of hand-tightening would prevent this. Great tool otherwise, but that is annoying!

basic but well built and capable

I bought this tool to drill 4 3/16" holes in a garage floor. My Dewalt 1/2 VSR does not have a hammer setting and would not penetrate. I didn't need another drill except for the hammer setting so I picked this as a basic but well made tool. It did the job effortlessly. Cons: Drill is a solid item but the depth rod is cheesy plastic and the collar for the handle is molded plastic. Makes a horrible noise on hammer setting. Wear hearing protection.

Great tool. Very close to Milwaukee if not just as good

I wanted a hammer drill that would last the test of time. Generally I would buy a Milwaukee. I saw this dirt cheap @ $30. At that price I couldn’t go wrong. I own several porter cable carpentry tools. They used to be super high-quality professional tools. Things of changed and they now make high end consumer grade tools. I wanted a corded drill because I don’t use them often and batteries go bad Sitting on a shelf in my workshop. Corded tools are the way to go. I realize battery technology and brushless motors are great. I have a Milwaukee drill that’s over 20 years old looks like brand new but the batteries are shot. I rarely used it. The batteries cost as much as a new drill. If you don’t use a drill every day you are better off with a quality corded drill and a quality extension cord.

Absolutely Fantastic Hammer Drill, especially for the Price!

I made the purchase to drill some holes in concrete block to mount a monitor on the basement wall. This tool is solid, everything I remember about the legendary Porter Cable brand. It's got power to burn! But I take exception to equipping such a brute of a tool with a 3/8" chuck. 1/2" would be much more suitable. All in all it's a fine piece of machinery! I'm proud to own it!

Did what I needed it to do

I needed this PORTER-CABLE Hammer Dril for some home projects and it exceded my expectations. it has plenty of power!

Motor burns out

At first, it provided adequate power for the price. It's no Hilti by any stretch, but it beat my bosch comparable in speed. The motor couldn't keep up however and after only about 6 months of use, the motor sparked and burned out. It is under service warranty, but difficult to receive assistance depending where you live.
