Fertilizing the pasture

It would be great to have some to open and close the feed gate. The fertilizer feeds out while getting on and off of the tow vehicle wasting or over dispersing whatever you have in the hopper.

Great product

After studying many reviews on many different spreaders I decided on this one. I absolutely love it. I've spread about 1.5 tons of lime with it so far. It is super easy to assemble. There is only one spot in the directions that will throw you off though. One of the bolts is mislabeled in one of the first few steps. Other than that it was super easy to install, just took a little while because there's quite a bit of parts and pieces. Totally worth it though. The only complaint I have is that the washer in the back part of the hopper will come through the pre-drilled holes in the hopper if you aren't careful. I was able to loosen the back two bolts and move the washer around so that it sealed without pulling through the pre-drilled holes. Well worth the purchase overall though. Would buy again and would recommend to others.

This unit does not perform as expected.

All parts and pieces need where included. Nothing was damaged. It went together very easy. The only problem is that the agitator does not work well enough to keep the fertilizer moving. The fertilizer compacts to tight and you have to hand agitate every few minutes. This makes this spreader troublesome. uneven spredding.

If you found this as the "top reviewed" spreader on a 3rd party website - THINK AGAIN!

I found this spreader to be a larger version of the "throw away" $50 spreaders. I had hoped to replace these prior purchases with something of substantially higher quality so that it would last for several seasons. I found this unit because it was the #1 top reviewed unit on a couple lawn and garden websites (websites I had never heard of, but had no reason to doubt). I now find those reviews to be suspect. This unit took 3 hours to assemble - because it comes completely as a collection of individual parts. This was compounded by the fact that the hole between the transmission assembly and the axle do not line up. This had to be re-drilled to enable assembly. A few steps later, I found the clamp handle for the gate setting also had to be re-tapped because the threads were bad. Then a bolt had to be re-tapped because of bad threads preventing assembly again. After all of this headache, the indicator which serves as a stop for the dispense lever is such thin steel that it bent on first use, causing my dispense rate to be a full setting above where I had set it. If you are looking for a quality product, this isn't it.

disliked the instructions pamphlet appeared written by someone that had no clue, on-line procedure was better, but moved to fast and did not show parts/parts assembly properly. The selective lever does not stay in place. Used to seed and fertilize lawn.

Plastic rims are not sturdy. Arrived with one damaged and would not hold the tire on. They sent replacement quickly. Second rim cracked after second use. Currently looking for steel rim replacements.

Needs work gate lever doesn’t stay open or closed

Gate lever doesn’t stay open or closed on its own when driving. Seriously had to have someone ride in back of UTV to hold open/closed. Tensioner was installed correctly but isn’t tight enough to hold. Otherwise well built and easy to setup. Just hard to use if gate won’t stay open or shut

Great Tow-Behind Spreader

I decided to move up to a tow-behind spreader since I live on five acres and I’m getting too old to use a push type broadcast spreader. I did a fair amount of research on the options but finally decided on this Brinly unit. It came nicely packaged. Figure on a two hour assembly time, taking your time and following the instructions, which are great, by the way. All the small parts are on a blister pack, organized in the order in which you need them. Very well thought out! The spreader is heavy duty and well designed.
