30 amp Thermo-Magnetic Breaker

I ordered this for a custom build load center for my 6KW generator. I needed a panel mount 30 amp breaker and this seemed to fit. I read the rating information on the side and is says it trips at 40.5 amps at 34 seconds (this is typical for thermo-magnetic breakers). This will work for short control, but not for generator protection (for that I need to trip at 30 amp instantly). Other than needing the next lower size for what I intended it seems to be a very good product. The load and line connections are stainless steel with stainless screws as most of the internals seem to be. If one side trips the other trip automatically. It comes with 2 types of screws for panel mounting. The description could have been more informative of the actual function. Overall, a quality product.

CAUTION! What you see is not what you get.

You have to be careful if you order the breaker. You will get the "A" series. double pole breaker only. It comes in what looks like the normal retail packaging but does not include the mounting screws or the hardware required to tie the two toggles together. If you look at this breaker at West Marine, you will see that these items are included in the package. WM also has a list price of more than $69.00. The part number on the two breakers is exactly the same. My suggestion is to just save the hardware from the old breaker and use it on the new one. If you do not have the old breaker, you are screwed. The picture shows the hardware, this is NOT correct. Three stars because the price is so reasonable, zero stars for the erronous picture and the failure to mention that the breaker is shipped with no hardware.

... with the terminal and mounting screws! That was a huge surprise and very much needed hardware! Fits perfect on an 8500 generator.

Pricey but good

Good switch. Works as promised. Unfortunately only fits in blue sea box and like all blue sea stuff a bit overpriced.
