Direction leave a lot to guess work.

Directions that come with suck. Otherwise it's great. You just have to play with buttons until you figure it out on your own.

Not what you think it is.

This product has no temperature alarms. It is hard to tell this from the description. The only alarm is associated with the clock: it has an alarm clock function, which is useless on this product. On the other hand, the temperature display is very big and appears to be pretty accurate (matches other thermometers that I have to within one degree F). The clock function loses time pretty fast - it loses about 1/2 hour per week!! You cannot rely upon the displayed time, which fortunately is not nearly as large as the temp displays. Bottom line: this is a pretty good thermometer - but that is all it is. It is not a temp alarm and the clock is useless.

Good features

This is my second one. Wish they were more water proof. If you accidentally drop it in water, for even a quick second, it may or may not revive upon drying out. Aside from that, I really like this model. It lasts, if you keep it dry, and has good reliable function. The alarm helps, occasionally in the summer my little pond can get hot and this let's me know to add ice to cool it down a degree or so.

Alarm Only for Probe

Regardless of what the instructions say, you can only set the alarm for the probe, either when the temp falls inside a range, or outside a range, as denoted by the arrows on the display. If you don't know this, the instructions can drive you batty. Other than that, it seems well built and accurate.

Great while it worked as intended

Great idea and while it worked, it was super. After about 9 months, it started malfunctioning and showing a higher than actual temperature. Even then, it can serve its great purpose as long as one accounts for the variance, which has been stable for about 9 months now.

big display, poor water resistance design

I got 4 of these for a set of tanks. Good things: a huge display I can read across the room, either a kick-stand or hang on the side of a tank option and this doesn't use expensive watch batteries ( AAA). The hanger option works even on rougher non-glass tanks since you mount a large plate on the tank which then slips into a slot on the thermometer. Suction cups wouldn't have worked. This also has air temperature and alarm options though I wasn't interested in these. Bad things: Less than 2 months later 2 of them have stopped working. And on inspection you can see why: There are several areas where the circuitry can be exposed to humid air/splashes. The air sensor grill is on the top, the battery compartment just has a tabbed door instead of screws and gasket and lastly if you look underneath the hanger lip instead of having a solid back there is a slot that is open to the circuitry. It also doesn't have a Celsius option which I would have liked. Recommendation: Don't buy this unless you are willing to do without the room air sensor and vacume pack or sandwich bag the whole thing to protect it. I'm going to try this with the remaining ones to see if I can keep them alive. I hope I'll be able to read them then.

Battery Life has Longevity and still works after three years

Yes after my tank crashed this temperature device was sitting in a plastic bag along with other aquarium stuff. Pulled it out the bad. Guess What? It still works! With same battery. That impressed me. Most electronic devices I pulled out of a bag after a year battery to weak and device spot working.

Great looking product

EXCELLENT PRODUCT - EXTREMELY ACCURATE

An amazing product! I currently use no less than 14 different thermometer models and types for various aquaria. This is by far the most accurate (when compared against standard mercury units). I'd say it's accuracy is within a .01F variance, which is unheard of in this marketplace. It's also built very well - quite sturdy. The large readouts are a huge plus. The alert warning feature works precisely as intended. in fact, it has already been responsible for saving one of my bettas when the heater stopped working. The alert signal is loud enough, too, that I can hear it in almost every corner of the home. The only 'negative' I have would be that the sensor cord is a little too short, meaning you are pretty well forced to install the monitor right at your tank with no leverage to place it even a short distance away from the tank. But hey, that's nothing compared to the overall excellence of every other feature of this product. All that said, I am very familiar with the fact that when it comes to aquarium thermometers, not all are created equal -- even if its the same model. For some reason, these products are quite finicky and you pretty much have to get lucky to find one that works very accurately. In so far as this particular model is concerned, and more precisely the unit that I specifically received, it is remarkably accurate and reliable.

Completamente confiable

El termómetro con alarma de alta y baja temperatura funciona a la perfección. Hice pruebas aumentando y bajando la temperatura por arriba y por debajo de los límites que establecí activándose la alarma de inmediato en ambos casos. Altamente recomendable.

Good product

Good product. Nice size and easy to see even when lights are out just from the glow of the aquarium lights. I placed it on a wall next to the aquarium. It does come with a bracket for the wall and a built in stand. Overall I am pleased with the product. Instructions are poor but it easy to figure out on your own. Would be better if it had a lightly backlit blue background with a wired power source. Also would be better if one could have centigrade/celcius option in addition to just Farenheit.

Had same one with my old tank. Bought a new one the instruction is very misleading still not sure if I setup alert properly the temp is -0.5C otherwise decent product compare to other digital stuff
