Good overall, bottle design could be improved

I've used heavy body acrylics in the past, and this was my first time trying soft body so I opted for a set. They are nicely pigmented while still being somewhat translucent (as is normal for acrylic paint, sheerness varies with the individual color). I haven't done a direct comparison, but they do seem to be a bit easier and more even than heavy body when applying in a diluted "glazing" kind of way. As others have mentioned, there is not a lot of paint per color, but it's a reasonable intro set if you're just trying the brand/soft body, and pretty standard price point for a set of 12 (assuming you want decent quality paint). My main disappointment is with the bottle design. They're not bad to hold, but it's easy to accidentally unscrew a little when popping the top off, and if it happens enough, paint will come out from the side/between the cap and body and make a mess when you squeeze. It's not SO easy to do that it will happen all the time—but it is easy enough that you'll want to be careful. Secondly, even if you put the cap back on immediately every time, the inside of the cap doesn't have the little nub that typically inserts into the nozzle, so it's easy for the nozzle to get plugged up with dried paint that you need to clean out next time. Neither of these issues are dealbreakers, but seem like big oversights and do make it less pleasant to use.

Liquitex Soft Body Acrylics Basic Set

I purchased this set for several projects coming up. Good quality paint. The size of the bottles is small which is okay to experiment with but the bottles are not full. After determining the colors you prefer, it would be more cost effective to purchase a larger size especially for large projects. The texture is opaque, satin, very smooth. I wanted to try something between fluid paint and hard body paint. Liquitex makes great gesso and interesting mediums to use with their paints as well as acrylic ink. My usual art store is out of stock so I purchased this set on Amazon. Recommended for abstract art that requires a flat, hard edge or other styles as well.

Great Price for these!

For the people leaving bad reviews, I don't think they understand the quality of good paint and the prices. This paint I find comparable to Golden Fluids which can average about $9-12 a 2oz bottle. This Liquitex paint is high in pigment, not "Basic" and .74 oz times 12 bottles in different colors. I love these and this size is great for paper and small canvas. I think the people who are leaving 1 star reviews have no idea what they are talking about and have no concept of how much good acrylics run. To think they were going to get an 8oz bottle of each of the 12 colors is absolutely absurd and hysterical. Love the quality of these paints and love the price!

Great paint. Good price.

Love this paint. I usually use the golden and liquitex heavy body acrylics. The fluid paint has richer color pigment and great for adding depth to your painting. It is a bit messy when opening for the first time and FYI, the top pops off it doesn’t screw off. You only unscrew it to remove the initial protective covering.

I'm hooked.

I've used heavy body acrylics for years and always avoided soft body and fluid because I like opaque and heavy pigmentation. These have changed my mind, I love them, and blending is much easier.

LOVE IT!!

I really like the colors. They are very pigmented and spread very smoothly. I thought they would be very watery but it does hold its shape (in very small puddles), similar to a consistency of melted icecream. I'm new to using Liquitex and this set is perfect to learn about it :)

Too fluid. Hard to open

I have used Liquitex Basic paint for couple of years and I like them. So far I am hating this version of Liquitex it is to fluid to my liking. I do think it would be alright for some painting projects. The paint doesn’t hold a peak to long. I don’t know how this paints are called PROFESSIONAL, to me they look like craft paint. I struggled with the lids to open so I could take the seal of the container then screw the spout back on. Some of the paints weren’t full. Expected more from Liquitex. Strongly thinking about changing brands of paint. I hate to admit this , but I rather use artist loft paint from Michaels. I bought a 36 piece of chalkola that are better than this paint.
