makes great coffee but there is a learning curve

I've had this cold brew pitcher for about 6 weeks and I love it. I like my coffee pretty strong and it brews great with NO bitter taste that can come with strong coffee. But it took a few trys to get it right. 1st issue I had was dry grounds. For my taste It takes more coffee to make an equal amount of coffe to that made in a drip coffee maker (but well worth it) so you don't want to waste it on dry grounds. 1st - ALWAYS MAKE SURE THE LIDS ARE ON SUPER TIGHT, you will still get some drips but this is VERY IMPORTANT. I read a lot of tips on dealing with dry grounds but the easiest way I came up with is to turn the pitcher upside down and let all the air bubbles come up to wet the grounds. I do this several times to start and then also when I shake it up while brewing. When you 1st put the filter into the pitcher of water, go slow and let the water absorb a bit into the coffee or you can have a mess. Because I use a bit more coffee, and like it strong, after 18-24 hrs I fill my 16 ounce mug up and then add about a cup of water back to the pitcher, screw the top with the filter back in, shake it up and then let it brew about 3-4 hrs more. (Be sure to rinse out the lid after you remove the filter or you will get grounds in the coffee. Shake it up prior to poring each cup.) I drink this much coffee everyday so it gives me more coffee. This way I get about 4 days of 12-16 oz mugs of coffee. It really makes great coffee. It uses more coffee and you have to plan when you brew it so you have coffee everyday but I'm hooked. Just a tip for a great cup of rich coffee whether cold brew or regular, mix Cafe Bustelo ground expresso coffee (I buy this at Walmart) half and half with your regular coffee (I don't use fancy coffee, just some version of Folgers). I mix it together in a large measuring cup before I add it to the filter. The Cafe Bustelo is about the same price as the Folgers per ounce and it really adds to the richness of the coffee. The pitcher also washes very well and has not stained at all.

Gotta Collect 'Em All - Repeat Buyer

We own three Takeya pitchers now and I've used them for everything from making iced tea (using the Takeya baskets that screw in to the lids), to air-tight home-made salsa storage, to making larger volumes of margaritas directly in the pitcher. The margarita making is probably the best example of their quality, because I'll use the pitcher just like I would a cocktail shaker (usually made of metal) with ice and everything and never have any leaks or damage - and then its ready to pour! I admit they're a little on the expensive end, but I have two pitchers that are close to ten years old.

Terrific!

This one is the third pitcher of this brand/style we have purchased. Husband uses one for his cold-brewed tea, I use one for water & the newest is being used for hummingbird nectar (we fill that pitcher twice a day for our feeders). Pro: Silicone-padded handle (I have wonky hands & these are comfortable & well balanced); it fits nicely in the fridge; easy to clean; easy-screw lid and I can easily see the fluid level (I drink a full pitcher each day). Going to order another for our son.

Taller than expected, and actually leak-proof

Taller than expected, but attractive and perfect volume for measuring recommended water consumption during the day. I would have had to move shelves to be able to store this pitcher on a shelf. Instead I store it on a shelf on the refrigerator door. Because it is tall, and I am of short and slim stature, I have to reach into the pitcher to clean the bottom. BUT I believe I can clean it better than a brush will. The screw-on lid with all its threads is a bit difficult to clean but because it doesn't leak, I can live with that. Amazingly this pitcher has a couple of silicone gaskets which when properly closed make it actually leak-proof. I am really pleased about that and intend to take good care of it and clean it regularly.

It does not spill

I really like this pitcher. I drink water while at work and was tired of buying bottles of water. I got this fill it with my filtered ice and water from home and keep it in the fridge at work. No more buying bottled water. It does not spill if it turns over. Has a nice little handle on the top so it’s easy to carry. Dishwasher safe too. I enjoy using it and recommend it.

Bigger than expected!

I didn’t realize how large this was going to be, but it works well! I was originally going to use it for my creamer, but instead I use it for punch/lemonade & it works perfectly!

Airtight, Compact Pitcher

I drink a lot of water and was looking for a water pitcher for nighttime refills. It’s clear, lightweight plastic and has a small footprint. The lid is tight when closed and only needs a half-turn to pour. I am very happy with it!!

Best Pitcher I've Ever Owned

I use this pitcher quite a bit every single day. Every other I've subjected to this treatment has failed within a year. This one is going strong. Its simplicity is its strength: there are only three parts so there are very few potential points of failure. It is leakproof, if you close it tightly. You can shake your drink in it. I do it all the time. It may seem pricey, but considering how long it's likely to last compared to the competition, it's actually a great value.

Great pitcher

You can put hot or cold in this pitcher. It really doesn't leak when laid on its side. I really like this pitcher. It was just what I was looking for. I also intend to use this with my immersion blender. It seems to be the perfect size for that.

Simple, but well designed. It does what it claimed to do. Overall, I am very satisfied.
