Twist on/off is terrible

I think the unit is decent detection, not to sensitive. I like the option of sound on/off. I’d like to see an option with solid body, sound option and always on like amprobe vp440. The twist to on slips back to off and disassemble is in the middle of on/off so the unit comes apart in my pocket slot. I fixed it falling apart with heating the pressure flap for more pressure. But that shouldn’t be an issue. My favorite parts are clip for deep carry helps with flapped uniform shirt pockets, sound button and simple shape. Please change mid body activation, it’s terrible. A clickly at top like a flash light would be fine but I rather an always on unit. It’s been done for decades, no reason ideal can’t do it.

Above & Beyond

The media could not be loaded. My quest to find a replacement for my broken Mil*kee sniffer quickly turned sour. You see, an exact replacement—which would have been perfectly fine, except for the poor switch design that failed after four years of very light use—promised to take a week to arrive. On the other hand, the alternative big name brand K***n had confidence-bustingly mixed reviews. Eventually, I gave this Light Duty version a shot. While I am no electrician (just an avid DIYer who loves competent tools), I’m sure this is the holy grail: It can tell the hot side from the neutral side of a cable, and chirps assertively when doing so. The watch-style battery compartment seems to have been a design afterthought, though it turns out to be perfectly serviceable. But, I honestly thought it was broken at first, so that was the first thing I checked. As it turns out, this thing doesn’t announce that it’s On when you press the unassuming pocket clip, which is how it is activated. But, once you test it on a known live circuit **WHICH YOU ALWAYS DO, EVERY TIME** the response is immediate and satisfying. It feels more like an extension of myself than a mere tool that toots its horn at every crossing. It’s handsome, has no buttons, and is as ergonomic as you could ask for. Its predecessor was slightly more sensitive, which made it difficult to discern live from neutral. This one hits the sweet spot, sniffing through thick insulation while barking only when threatened. You’ll like this one.

Broke my Ideal and ordered a cheap replacement. Sent it back the same day I received it. You’ll get what you pay for and paying extra for this is so worth it. Works excellent. Don’t take a risk with cheaper item.

Easy way to detect voltage

Really love the flashing light and beeping when voltage is present.

Came in the Mail, But Delayed Due to Lack of Airlift Resources

Loved the voltage pen, perfect for ensuring that the equipment locked out/tagged out is really dead and safe to work on. It also good for voltage tracing for utility power supply branches, but not designed or meant to be used for system troubleshooting. A good Fluke DVOM or O-Scope is the answer for that purpose. Right handy, easily carried in a shirt pocket and always handy when working an emergency situation. Worth every penny! I live and work at an APO address, so mail since the COVID-19 Pandemic started has been quote sporadic. We have been receiving Christmas cards as late as early April.

Äußerst nützlich mit kleinen Schwächen

Hatte schon einmal diesen Tester über den Elektrohandel gekauft, nachdem ich dessen Anwendung beim Profi gesehen hatte. Leider vergaß ich, die beiden Batterien herauszunehmen, Nach zwei Jahren war eine Batterie ausgelaufen und hatte den Tester ruiniert. Wegen der schlechten Abkapselung des Batteriefachs nur 4 Punkte.
