This is a money saver

We were upgrading and older house with old style, dingy switches. The electrician would have charged $1400 to change out the old switches, so we decided to economize and try these. They do work: the sliding switch engages the old switch lever and toggles it up or down as the new switch cover slides up and down. The installation is fussier than I had anticipated, because this unit attaches with screws through the elongated slots, and those screws are exactly those holding the old switches in the boxes in the wall. This means that you have to unscrew the old switches to apply this cover adapter plate (being careful not to touch the "hot" areas of the old switch). The wall plate that surrounds the AD70W (Taymac Masque Wall Plate Cover) is screwed in to the circular "donuts" at the top and bottom of the adapter plate using a separate pair of screws that come with the wall plate cover. I didn't strip out any threads in the switch box or while driving the self-tapping wall plate cover screws into the donuts on the AD70W during the installation, but it could have happened if I hadn't been careful. The attachment of the wall plate to the AD70W isn't as secure as I would like because the plastic of the AD70W is rather thin. We'll see how long these last. So far they do seem to work, and they do look more modern than the old switches. By the way, we had some toggle dimmer switches with levers that were too thick to fit into the sliding portion of this cover. You can remove the slider by bending the back plate and pushing the sliding part past the engagement tabs. This leaves a slot where the old levers can stick through. It doesn't look as neat, but it does work.

They are a great product, but they don’t fit over all switches.

I have used this product in my bedrooms as an easy way to update the look of the light switch. They look great. The only issue I had was that they didn’t fit well over the switch in my bathroom.

Makes big difference

I really liked being able to switch to white from beige toggle without having to pay electrician to change entire outlet. Was easy to attach and was a reasonable price.

Description somewhat unclear...but worked for my application

It wasn't clear if this was what I wanted from the product description or the reviews, but I bought one anyway since I was in a bind. My application was that I had an X10 wall switch with the push button that was designed to fit into the old style small-hole wall plates that is used for the old toggle switches...It used the same size hole. But I was replacing a modern rocker large-opening switch in a 5-gang wall plate, Buying a modern rocker style X10 switch or a new 5-gang plate with 4 large holes and 1 small hole opening was going to be very expensive. This product did exactly what I wanted. It simply fills the space from the small switch opening to the larger opening of the wall plate. Nothing in the product moves. It is a solid adapter. You do have to unscrew the two screws that hold the switch into the switch box, apply the switch adapter to the switch and screw it back into the box...no big deal (turn off the power to the box before you do this!) The photo shows the adapter in place in the far left slot of the wall plate.

Ripoff here?? Joke? Doesn't rest flush sticks way out of the wall

I ordered one of these and the wall plate that goes with it just in case it didn't work without a standard wall plate. Well this duplex adapter plate which you are supposed to just cover your existing one so you can change it to white, just doesn't go over the existing duplex receptable. There are plastic bars on the back of this cover up plate that prevent it from pushing back. So it sticks way out and is totally useless. What is your intention here TayMac??

Can't Find Them Anywhere Else and They're Great!

We use lutron spinning dimmers for our Philips lights so they need a old school toggle switch. But all of the switch plates we wanted to switch to had the wider rockers. This did the trick so that we didn't have to search out specific switch plates. Looks clean and nearly OEM. I would recommend these to a friend.

A Perfect way to have "new" outlets without having to change the outlet itself. Nice bright white, or you can paint them to fit your decor.
