Great Shoe, Traditional and Long Lasting

This exact shoe and style was worn for a few years by my older daughter, and now my younger daughter has started to wear it. Different kid, same shoe: classic design, quality construction. What really gets me is that I bought a few other brands along the past decade, and they NEVER stood up to wear like this shoe. Other shoes have the color scratch off, the top strap breaks, they look old and dingy very quickly, and they don't stand up to polishing. This shoe is evidence that craftsmanship still exists.

My daughter got them for church shoes

Ok so this is the first thing I ever did the Amazon Wardrobe with which now makes me so mad bc I think I got on prime the very first year it was offered and it’s been years since they started wardrobe. For those that don’t know it is amazing. They sent all three pair of shoes I ordered with no money down. That way I got 3 siZes in this same exact shoe. You just never know with dofferwnt brands sizes and widths. So we ended up with a half size bigger than what she was but she could have fit the exact size we thought was right because the fit Oh these are perfect. I only went up the half size because well she is 7 and I don’t want to buy another pair in under a year but the reason they fit so good I think is it’s because the toebox is nice and wide it doesn’t necessarily make it a wide shoe but it makes it where it fits in the size your kid is currently in ajd if anything they will be a touch big which you can double sock it or little trick I learned working for a shoe store for 20 years if you know somebody who has a store or a good family owned store for sure they will have a generic phone Pad that looks like the front of an insole cut off at the arch with no heel. They will lift your insole in the shoe at the toe ajd slide that under there. it will slightly raise your toes up which will set your heel back literally millimeters but it locks that heel in makes them fit perfect. I would only buy the wide if I’ve been to a shoe store and they measured my kids feet and they showed me where they were wide because these will fit if anything they’ll be wide they won’t be narrow. Ask any shoe store employee how many men come in and say they Need a wide and you measure their foot and they aren’t even close. Wider is not better. The right fit is the best no matter what it is

Not as nice as Hush Puppies

I ordered a pair of the Stride Rite (SR) Mary James along with the Hush Puppies brand (HP) to see which brand we might like better. The price point on SR was definitely a little better. But when it came to quality, HP is hands down better. By appearance: The two shoes look very similar, but to touch the SR feel like plastic and look cheap. The HP shoes are not leather, but the material feels nicer to the touch and looks richer. Inside: both shoes report to have memory foam, however when pressing down on each, the HP feels dense, with a slow rise expected from memory foam. The SR feels very thin and the bounce back of the foam is quick. Soles: the bottom sole is very different between the two! Taking both shoes, I tested them in wood floor for traction. The SR shoes slide across the floor. The HP has a rubbery bottom that has excellent traction- no slipping!! Strap: I noticed the straps looked different in length. After measuring, the SR strap measures 8-1/2” in total length, the HP measures 10” in length. Not important for my kiddo, but maybe for some needing extra width adjustment. The SR shoe does have more “shoe” in the profile, if that is important, whereas the HP is more delicate looking. I hope this helps others so you don’t have to order both shoes! They run slightly small, as my daughter is about a 3-1/2, but her toes are at the end of both of these without socks. I would order up a half size if unsure! My vote, as you probably can tell, is Hush Puppies. ;)

Uniform shoes for 6 months and they're still going strong!

Bought two of these for my daughter's uniform and they've both held up after 6 months! Looks like they'll last through the end of this school year. (Which is unheard of with the cheapo shoes!) In fact, I've already bought another pair (one size up) in preparation for next year. + I love that they have wide widths. That's rare in children's shoes. + The velcro makes it very easy to take on/off + The rubber sole on this shoe is really great. Doesn't mark up the walls. It's not too hard but also has enough cushioning. + Sole has grip and has held up. Don't get me wrong, it is worn after 6 months, but it still has the grooves and still grips. It also wore down evenly, but that might be more a function of the way my daughter walks than the shoe itself. + Finally the best part of it is the leather! It has held up so well. Sure, it's a bit scruffed up, but that's expected. It hasn't peeled...that's the important piece. The leather is great quality. Plus it's leather inside and out. Leather is also much more breathable than synthetic fabric. My daughter's hands and feet sweat a lot. With this shoe, her feet are able to breathe in the leather even if it's sweaty. + Bonus: insole leather is still brand new. That just speaks to the quality. We've even thrown these into the wash and dryer and they are still in great condition. If your kids wear a uniform or the same shoe to school every day, it's important that they get enough cushioning and breathability in the shoe. I would recommend getting two to alternate so that each shoe has a day to air out. That helps to prevent stinky shoe issues. Length and width were perfect for her. But if you're unsure, just buy a few sizes and widths and return the ones that don't fit.

Nice Shoe

I purchased these shoes for my granddaughter. She does not like these shoes, and since she is 10 years old, I respected her preference and sold them on ebay. I liked the shoe. It seemed to be well-made and attractive. Yet, her "voice" matters to me. I purchased her another pair that she picked out. I sold them for a few dollars more on ebay than I paid for them through the Amazon Warehouse.

Great quality, excellent support!

I LOVE these shoes. They are very well made and provide a lot of support. Most girls dress shoes are thin, flimsy, and provide little to no support for their growing feet. I have two daughters a year apart and even after a year of wearing them they are still in perfect condition and ready to pass down to the younger one. Got them for less than half the regular price, but definitely worth the full price if I had to pay it.

Not the most aesthetically pleasing shoe but it gets the job done!

It arrived on time through PRIME. The price in Canada was more than in the US. However, It appears to be comfy for my litle one and though it is not the most aesthetically pleasing shoe in the world, it gets the job done!
