The starter rope seems to work well and is packaged nice, with a small pin to hold the line on the spool between uses. As with most starter line, it really needs to be cut hot or melted to prevent fraying and allow it to be fed through the recoil and/or handle more easily. It does fray a lot when it isn't melted and this does make for a difficult install if you aren't prepared. I cut one star off because the line does not seem to hold a knot well unless similarly partly melted after being tied. This may be related to my machine, but the line didn't hold its knot past 1 pull before I melted the knot. YMMV. As far as strength goes, time will tell but it does seem to be of high strength and durable. After hundreds of pulls on a Honda gx motor, it looks almost new and functions well.

Very Durable

This starter rope is a million times stronger than that cheap white nylon rope you get at the hardware store. Be careful what thickness you get... Mine was so thick it wouldn't fit through the hole in the starter housing. I got it to work with lots of cursing and a power drill. Now I've got thicker starter rope than any other snow blower around... But I would have probably been happy with the thinner rope of this grade that actually fits the machine. It's strong enough, you don't have to upsize.

Strong, well made line for larger displacement engines

Good strong line. Good for larger displacement engines. Tip: cut it with a soldering iron or an old kitchen knife held in a torch flame till it is hot enough to melt the line. That will prevent fraying

Very good quality starter cord, at a good price.

Great starter cord for mid-sized engines! I installed this on a Honda GX390 engine mounted on a 37-ton log splitter and in is very good quality "cord". This cord should last 3X longer than the original that came with the engine. It seems very strong, but still reasonably flexible for a thinker sized cord. if you have a problem getting it started into the hole on the "pulley", just melt the cords end (tip) a little and form a needle point end. A good place to go for information on installing a new starter cord is Youtube... great visual instructions. Hope this helps!

Low stretch rope, perfect for holding

This is a Low stretch rope, exactly what I was hoping for. Solid braided line that is perfect for holding tight. A bit stiff and tough to knot, but use a good knot and it should work very well. Hoping its outside durability is excellent too.

Top quality starter rope

Replaced my snowblower starter cord with this. Same exact size as the OEM Briggs and Stratton. Seems to be very durable. Should last a long time. The roll was inexpensive, will never have to buy again.

Perfect replacement.

Merc 9.9 two stroke. The original rope (over 25 years old) was fraying. Ordered this spool of rope as it was only marginally more expensive than the precut length, and I have two engines that need repair… Quality of the rope seems excellent, and the blue color adds a little flare. No problem recommending this product.

Terrible quality - just paracord

I don't normally leave reviews, but this is terrible starter rope. Rather than being a proper braided pull cord, it's just paracord with a braided shell, but the inner portion is loose strands. The rope frays and breaks very quickly. I replaced the rope three times in a few weeks, then finally learned my lesson and bought proper starter cord. Might be okay for small things like lawnmowers and chainsaws, but would not use for anything important or with a larger engine such as generators, etc.

Does not hold up

Bought it to replace the cord on my snowmobile, install was great cord seemed fantastic 1st day of our trip riding the trail down noticed it was fraying already (took the stock cord 10 years to do that) made it off the mountain and it ended up snapping when I unloaded it off the truck, replaced the cord and brought a spare on day 2 just in case, 2nd cord only lasted 4 pulls before snapping 3rd cord I didn’t even install just used it to wrap around the primary clutch to start it instead, definitely not worth it

Feels very sturdy!

This rope can stand the abuse of pulling over my high compression 860cc skidoo engine over and over and over, you certainly don't need wonder if it'll spin your mower or snow blower. The thick seat-belt like coating is the first thing you notice when holding the rope. Right away I could tell that this rope will do a better job standing up to rub wear than my stock braided nylon. Happy it came in a 100' spool, because now I want to add it to everything.

Great Rope

I`m bad for breaking my starter ropes. The quality of this rope seems way better than I have been used to. Time will tell but certainly looks promising.
