I've had these dishes for about 18 months now. I bought 4 sets so I had enough for 16 people. I have put them in the microwave(>50 times), dishwasher (>50 times), and also washed by hand. Pros: -Look gorgeous -Don't scratch, withstand multiple cleanings without fading or getting scratched (I scrub with the green and yellow scotchbrite sponges, no issues.) -Nice solid weight to them - I'm a frugal shopper, but I look for good quality at a reasonable price and these won out over a dozen or more other brands and styles I looked at for as a present to my wife. Cons: - Get too hot in the microwave, especially the bowls. Sometimes my food won't be even hot, but the bowl cannot be held without an oven mitt! It's like they steal the heat that was meant for the food. I've resorted to switching bowls after heating to a cool bowl and/or using a different type of container altogether for microwaving. Breaking - Yes they are breakable but I've had them 18 months and so far I've lost 2 large plates and one mug to breakage. One plate cracked in half, I'm assuming it had an air bubble that got to hot either in the microwave or dishwasher. One mug and one plate just got dropped. I might not recommend these in a house with kids, depending on your kids. I would not even want to drop a plate from one foot up, it would have a high chance of breaking. - They do also get chipped. There are really very few chips in them, (maybe 6-8? on all off the 62 pieces I have?) but they have gotten a few chips here and there. So, overall I give them 5 stars. Stoneware is going to get hot in the microwave and break/chip, it's the nature of the material. I love the glaze and as a gift to my wife they have a sentimental value and she loves them as well. We serve guests proudly with them and with their performance so far I expect another 3-5 years out of them before we lose enough that we need to consider a new set. Well worth the $200 (4 sets @ $50 each) that I paid.

Elegant!! I bought a sushi plate same design a year ago and loved the style. I recently saw two bowls for $40 when I saw this whole set I bought it and it just arrived. It was very well packaged. I was concerned since I saw some reviews but I got a perfect set. The photos showing the packing someone posted is not the way these were packed it was very well packed. Maybe someone got the message and changed the packaging. They are plates though and I would not ha w been surprised if one was cracked. They came in individual boxes inside one box with cardboard spacing in between. I posted some pics of the packaging to see that it’s different then what someone else posted. The set is very classy and the pattern is beautiful. Almost a work of art. As for the not uniform shape I think it’s just part of the style. My sushi plates aren’t uniform it’s like each piece is individually made. I’m contemplating buying a 2nd set to keep as spares I think I’ll have this set for many many many years! I see some had issues in the long run if I start seeing problems I’ll edit my review. I noticed the edges aren’t as rustic as my sushi set. These are more glazed over which is nicer looking this way. The back says there microwave dishwasher save. I’m extrememy pleased! You can’t beat the price too. Google the bowls Kosui and you’ll see what I mean! Great Product!!!!

Beautiful and heavy!

The colors are vibrant and the dinnerware is substantial. Being retired, my husband wants to help in the kitchen and I've found that our dinnerware was WAY too fragile. I've lost count of the bowls broken and plates chipped. Suffice it to say that we needed stoneware and this set filled the bill. As a plus (which I haven't told him about) these plates are smaller than our old dinnerware making smaller portions not so identifiable! I love the shape of the bowls, in fact, I love this dinnerware. It arrived in perfect shape in an insane amount of cardboard. The only possible drawback is that it is heavy!

Worth it!!

So I've officially had this dishware set for 3 years now & I'm down to 2 of each item. Over the past 3 years I've used them almost 3 times a day & hand washed them each time (because I don't own a dishwasher). These dishes have been thrown around from shelf, counter, table, sink, drying rack, & back to the shelf. Not to mention the times they've been left on the floor for the dogs to clean. To my surprise they've held up VERY well. Almost every one that broke was due to me slamming them around in the sink when I was washing them. The one exception was when I intentionally broke a large plate during an argument. I'm writing this review because I'm just about to make a second purchase, because they're totally worth the price, hold up well, & look awesome!!

Beautiful set! Very heavy good quality! They ship packed very well, in secure but compact packaging. No items were broken upon arrival. Been in use for a few weeks and have stood up to bumps etc. Gorgeous color and finish, unique shape perfect for plating and entertaining etc. Five stars would definitely recommend/buy again!

Great plates

Purchased this same set a few years ago. It was just me and my boyfriend so a set of 4 of everything was OK. Fast forward, and we entertain more. I went to purchase another set and they no longer sold it at the store where I originally purchased it. It never dawned on me to search Amazon for my dishes. I ordered 2 sets. This is a different manufacturer than my original set but they are "almost" identical. Needless to say I have always loved this set, and am so happy with this purchase. I love the colours. I love that if you have a meal with gravy or sauce, the gravy/sauce does not fall off.

A beautiful looking set! Be careful...

It's a very unique looking set of dishes. The colours and patterns on each piece are different. I do think that they need to be handled carefully. The paint seems to easily rub off the outer edges, and the glass on the surface dents easily. The size of each dish is good.
