Poor quality, sharp edges, possibly previously opened
I did a lot of research on these here and ended up going with the intermediate set that was a little more money mostly to get the blue and red as other colors like silver and bronze tend to get lost in the sand and surrounding landscape if a shoe rolls away. The first thing I noticed upon opening the shipping box was that it appeared to have been opened before. Then on removing all the items I noticed several dings in areas and the finish flaking off of the poles which seemed like they might have been used or at least handled. Now, I understand that as a horseshoe set goes these will very quickly get dinged up anyway, so that was not a big deal. However, what is a big deal (and possibly why returned?) was that 3 of 4 shoes had sharp edges in the mold parting lines! As in sharp enough to cut or at the very least abrade the skin. Normally I would have immediately return these but since it was the Friday before Memorial Day weekend and I wanted to have the set for play I opted to just keep them and took a dremel tool to the rough edges and smoothed them out myself. Sure, this grinds off the finish but that finish is going to quickly get dinged up anyway. Another thing I didn't like was the difference in appearance between the red and blue shoes. The blue were a nice gloss finish and looked good (other than the sharp edges, of course) but the red shoes have a very satin and unfinished appearance. Yet more lack of quality and attention to detail. So although I'm keeping them I figured at the very least I can post a review here with photos to let folks know. Pretty disappointing, Franklin, to say the least.

The horseshoe stake is meager at most..!
It’s an ok starter set but the stake is less than , in many ways. I get there has to be a way to even the playing field as best as you can to accommodate pro and intermediate all around. It’s only 3/8” so it’s not exactly very rigid when tossing a 2lbs shoe at 40’.. I mean I like to be competitive with others. But the time straightened up the stake literally after each set is not working for me. So at your own interpolation decide what you want. Myself I slipped a piece of gas line I had cut into the same length as the supplied stake plus 3” so as to get more rigged play from. So that’s my grief…..lol????

This is VERY heavy. Watch your toes.
Very sturdy but much too heavy for younger kids or weakling parents. It will likely last generations though. Store in a safe place, preferably not at the bottom of the stairs where it can stalk your toes at night as you fumble around in the dark. You are warned. It is a realistic and sturdy set for those ready for the challenge of Horseshoes: Olympic Preparation Edition.

Broke the very first time we pitched it.
This is an inferior product. We took it to a proper horseshoe pit, and one of the shoes broke the very first time we pitched it (when it hit the peg.)

Definitely a family favourite for camp season. One of the first things to get pulled out and used constantly. So far they seem pretty sturdy

Great for casual use
Perfect for casual games and have not had any issues after a few uses including shoes hitting stones. Posts are a bit short and thin but this isnt a regulation/serious set and is as expected for the price.
