A set of dissapointing results
After about 10 years, my previous vacuum wine stoppers recently gave up the ghost - one when the vacuum plunger stopped working and the other when the rubber seal tore. This set of two was so old I couldn't find a name on the units and I couldn't find anything on the inet that looked like them. So as much as I felt they had given good value, I could not order exact replacements. The Vinium wine stopper is similar in that, in contrast to many other approaches to the problem of degassing wine, it is a one piece unit, so I took a chance. However, after a couple of weeks trial, I am not thrilled with this purchase, for three reasons. First, the other reviews are correct, it takes a lot of work to even get a temporary vacuum. Second and more important, the vacuum doesn't hold nearly as well as the stoppers I had previously (my standard of comparison and goal for replacement). Previously I could count on the vacuum holding for 2-3 days at least, but that has not been my experience with the Vinium. Third, the Amazon web site refers to this product as a "set", and the main picture of the product shows two of these stoppers and a wine glass. So I think it is fair for me to have assumed that the product delivered would contain two stoppers. Wrong - one stopper, packaged in a nice little box. So what makes this a set? Stopper plus box? My dictionary says a set is "a number, group, or combination of things of similar nature". Does a single stopper plus its packaging qualify? Now granted, at the price I paid ($10) I wouldn't mind having received only one of these, if it worked well. But it doesn't.

Works but takes awhile.
Works as advertised but it does take a fair amount of time/pumping to evacuate a bottle. Obviously physics is in place when you are only displacing a tiny amount of air with each stroke. I am not sure how long it will last but so far - it was worked for the past three months with moderate use. I definitely like the idea and this is more portable and definitely more cost effective than a more elaborate evacuator but trying to get half a bottle of air out can get a little tedious.

Not much vacuum action
I ordered this instead of similar products because of its small size and one-piece operation. However, it is difficult to tell whether it is actually getting any suction, and the piston sometimes tends to fall back down after I pull it up. I assume this means I'm losing any vacuum that was originally created, but since I couldn't tell if a vacuum was created in the first place, it's hard to know for sure. It's a nice looking product and a good idea, but it just doesn't seem to work any better than a non-vacuum bottle stopper.

Takes some effort to pump it, but seals perfectly!
The wine stopper came in a nice box, and it's a great place to store it when you're not using it. When you use it initially, it feels like the pump isn't working. After pouring two glasses of wine, I pumped the wine stopper about 10 times. Didn't seal it shut, so I was a little worried. I tried again, and gave it a few more pumps, and it sealed perfectly. Gave the stopper a good tug, and it didn't budge. However, the wine stopper does stick out the top quite a bit, and it may not fit standing in your refrigerator anymore. Great product nonetheless.

Just ok
A little smaller and less substantial in feel than what I was expecting. I also am not convinced it's really making a difference. But it's cheap and at worst works as a traditional wine stopper.

Works pretty well if you can create a partial vacuum
Stoppers will lose vacuum if you’re not perfectly vertical while pumping. Harder to do than you would think because you really have to work out with the pump if you want a decent vacuum

guess you test it until it breaks
this product came without instructions on how to use it. when I contacted them about this they were rude and said if I want any of the information associated with this item I would have to go to a web site and print it. I do not have a printer; besides, it would be a little difficult to get an 8x10 piece of paper in the small container

Good product for a stopper
Good product for a stopper. It does take longer to pump than I thought so it probably won't be as effective as it could.
