Great matching bag

Now I can carry two bags onto the plane, my normal stow away and this perfect matching bag for under the seat, exactly what I wanted.

UPDATE -- As I said in my initial review, the main compartment zipper separated on one side after only three uses. I contacted TravelPro customer service. (NOTE: Customer service can only be contacted via the form on their Web site. There are no phone numbers, email addresses or snail mail addresses listed.) I described the problem, included pictures, and requested a repair. Within a week or so I received a response saying that problem was difficult to repair and that TravelPro would replace the bag. True to their word, I received a new bag several weeks later. The new bag is working well. I like the design. I hope the zipper(s) on the new bag last better than the original. Original submission: Bag is well designed; however, this is my third time using it. First time used as a carryon on transcontinental trip. Last two time used as weekend pack (car trip to a hotel, nothing rugged). When I arrived at my hotel today (3rd time using the bag), discovered the zipper on the main compartment had separated on one end. Only way to keep the bag closed is to zip all the way from one end, defeating the purpose of having a double ended zipper. Travel Pro CLAIMS to be so tough. Sure doesn’t appear that way to me. I definitely recommend staying away from this product!!!

Has held up great throughout the years

I purchased this item back in 2016 for School and Travel. It has carried many large text books in it just fine during the school years, with it's form the books would sometimes shift around inside. It seems to work the best when it is stuffed full. It has allowed me to stuff it full of items during airplane travel as well. The laptop sleeve close to the back of the user holds my 15.6" Chromebook I have had during my time of ownership just fine. The second pocket that has a soft inner lining may not fit a 15" laptop, but could suit well for an ipad. The backpack has a form to it, so it won't collapse into a smaller form factor. Despite this, I have been able to stuff it under multiple airline's seats just fine and haven't been questioned about the size of my personal item. Like another reviewer I too have a small bit of string hanging from the top next to the top handle screw. It hasn't increased in length since I have had it. Rather it has gotten shorter from me cutting it shorter. I haven't had any zipper problems with this bag. There are times when the inner lining of the main compartment gets caught into the zipper when I have the bag stuffed so full. There is a water bottle pocket on the side that I have been able to stuff a 1L nalgene bottle into during travel. Upon unzipping their is elastic band that stretches to hold it in. I have gone through the airports with my bottle stuffed in that spot many times. The side pouches are quite roomy but do get in the way at times below the airline seats, but has held up and not broken. When traveling with my laptop I typically stuff the computer cables into one of the side pouches. Inside the accessories area there is a small carabiner type strap that I typically can clip my keys to. This pouch feels constrictive when full of pens and pencils, but if you can use the space below that there is plenty of room to include more items. There are a few locations throughout the bag that have some frayed stitching at this point, but nothing that has affected the use of any of the items after all these years of neglect from my travels. I love using the luggage strap to drop the bag off onto my luggage handle when in the airport. As much items as I fill the bag up with can make it fairly heavy and walking miles in the airports can get uncomfortable with this bag. Especially when a laptop is in. Overall I would give it 5 stars because of all the times I have traveled and used this bag, nothing has made me doubt my purchase.

Sturdy

Its like a suitcase you can carry on your back. Quality throughout. Fits well under the seat in a plane. It held all i needed on a four day trip.. I bought the carry on case as well.

Exceeded Expectations so far

great back pack so far ... Looks durable and very good quality... I've had it 3 weeks and have air traveled 2 of the 3 weeks and it has worked out really well .... Light weight and comfortable and looks great (I bought the matching roller bag as well) .... I air travel 40+ weeks a year so I will put it to the test.... The side zipper pockets should be a little deeper but they work .... They will not work for a standard size water bottle but that does't bother me .... They work well for my laptop charger cord, i-phone fold-up stand and hard case for my Oakley s .. I carry a laptop, three- 3 ring binders, files, power point laser -remote, cord bag, digital recorder w/hard case, and other misc. stuff ...I live out of my bag

Looking forward to 3 week trip

Lots of compartments to parse out everything. One disappointing feature is water bottle side pockets; too shallow for regular sized bottles. The bottles keep falling out. Bought a bunch of Velcro straps to keep things in place. Great construction, but wish each of the 3 main compartments had dual zipper, as it is easy to miss an open pocket. Only the main compartment is dual with a top zipper in back for easy access to computer, a great feature during security screening. Comfortable to wear fully loaded. Easy to trim with symmetry in mind. Lots of external places to carry when not wearing on your back. Overall, great buy, would recommend on long or short trip. I now use for work.
