Another excellent Vera Bradley design!

This Vera Bradley Women's Performance Twill Travel Backpack Travel Bag, Black, One Size is yet another well designed, well constructed option from Vera Bradley and my wife is thrilled, while I am extremely impressed with everything they have offered her for work and play. Every bag she has from VB has been outstanding and not only given my wife what she needs for any given situation, but she loves the look and feel of her bags. The Vera Bradley Women's Performance Twill Travel Backpack Travel Bag came in Black - which is one of her best go-to colors for mixing and matching. This particular fabric is a special favorite: we have a cat that leaves tufts (not hairs or fur) wherever he goes. This bag material repeals it and makes that a major plus out of the gate for us. There are other materials VB uses that does attract the fur and lint, but at least it is easy to wipe off and she's never disappointed when it happens. But again, in this case, no tufts - or any sort of lint or other attractions to this material. So major plus! The black is attractive in and of itself and looks great when matching other VB patterns or our suitcases (we use a few different VB bags for various travel needs), and my wife loves how she can match to her wardrobe. The construction, zippers, and overall design is excellent. In fact, the VB bags are some of the best designed bags we've come across. There are always plenty of spots for whatever my wife (even I) need when we're out. There will always be some sort of mesh - in this case there are two big ones that allow for anything from computer cords to wallets, delicates, and so forth. There is at least one water bottom holder that extends on the outside. A top-back full length zippered pocket is perfect for her 15 inch laptop for work or travel. And while she COULD use the inside full length pocket instead, she likes that she'll be able to carry the laptop in the back for security, but could use either of these pockets and have plenty of room for a day or two worth of clothing - using it as either a carry on or work backpack. In the end this is one of the best Vera Bradley designs we've seen yet - and that's an already impressive lineup. My wife has spent nearly an hour playing with different options and is already set knowing how our next weekend away it'll be used. But she's also planned how she can use it for heading to the coffee shop to work. So yea, this Vera Bradley Women's Performance Twill Travel Backpack Travel Bag is a major 2 thumbs up!

Pretty Travel BackPack but Lacking Some Common Travel Features

It's an excellent Vera Bradley bag (five stars), it's just an average travel bag (three stars), so I'm rating it four stars. The Vera Bradley materials, branding, and patterns are lovely, luxe, pretty, and beautiful. Any VB fan will be happy with the materials and patterns of this pack. But as a travel backpack - from the POV of an actual frequent longhaul backpack traveler - this pack leaves A LOT to be desired. If not for the VB brand, I don't think anyone would actually buy this as a travel backpack, especially at nearly $150. Here's some of the reasons why: - First, when you travel with a pack, you intend to carry it a lot - with all your stuff in it - so the straps matter, and the straps on this are the worst part!! There is almost no padding at all in the shoulder straps and the chest strap is even worse and it's terribly placed. I'm petite, so on me, the chest strap cuts basically right across my neck. Completely unusable. And if they were going to bother putting one chest strap, they needed to put a bottom (hip) one too! Note: The saving grace is that this strap can be used to secure the bag to my rolling luggage. - The front pocket only opens halfway to slide things in and out the entire bottom half, and that's a pretty decent depth. This is so inconvenient. It should open on the sides too, or at least "pop out." - There's no pocket facing my back to hide my most important documents while keeping it handy, like my passport. Almost all travel bags have this! - There's not even a small waterproof pocket on the interior. - It doesn't have compartments to hold a cell phone charger. - It doesn't lock. - I do like that it opens flat. That makes it convenient to use like luggage. - I love the two drink bottle pockets. - I love the water-repellent material used. All in all, if you love VB or the print of the bag, go for it - it's a nice, beautiful bag that can work for travel! But if you are actually looking for a travel bag, maybe keep browsing before settling on this one.

A bit heavy

For a travel backpack, which I expect to be lightweight, this was definitely on the heavier side, but at the same time, that's what I expect from a Vera Bradley bag. It's very thick and luxurious with nice quilting, yet at the same time, it looks unobtrusive. The water bottle pockets on the sides have some nice elastic to let them expand fully but also hold tight. While I think these will be fine for standard bottles of water, I'm a bit concerned about my big travel bottle fitting inside. There are a lot of pockets with a lot of space and organizational sub-pockets, and the flower design inside makes me smile every time I open it. Comfortable to use. Just wish it were a little lighter.

Zipper could be better

I love Vera Bradley, but this backpack disappointed me a little compared to some of her other stuff. The zipper on the backpack I received does not move very easily. I can get it open and closed, but it needs some patience. For travel on occasion I think its fine. But definitely not for long term everyday use. There rest of the backpack is great! I love the usual fabric, and design options. Id even say its soft enough to take a nap on during travel if you really need! LOL
