I bought this because everyone in my family is allergic to cats, but I have a long haired cat, and I was having everyone over for dinner. I had given the cat a quickie "test run" bath in the kitchen sink with just water, a couple weeks before... Which he didn't like and barely put up with. So I wasn't too confident I'd be able to bathe him again before everyone came over, without getting shredded by his claws, or that I'd even have time for a reluctant/resistant cat bath between everything ELSE I had to get done before everyone came over. But still, hoping that I would have time to bathe the cat, I searched online for appropriate shampoos (the cat's an often cranky senior felizen with dry skin, although that flaky dry skin has mostly gone away since I got him on all wet canned cat food, yay) and leather gauntlets to protect my hands and arms (no, JK! but Srsly, I thought about buying gauntlets!)... And I found an article that referred to this anti allergenic waterless shampoo. If you (are old like me, lol, and) ever used mousse on your hair in the past, this waterless shampoo has that mousse consistency. You work it into the cat's fur and then brush it out. It's harder to do than it sounds, because it's a lot easier to work mousse into damp or wet hair than dry fur. That being said, I worked it into his fur everywhere but his tummy (he HATES having his stomach touched), and gently brushed it out as best I could, before he got irritated with the brushing/grooming. That was two days before everyone came over. Amazingly, no one was sniffing or sneezing even though the cat hangs out and eats in the main rooms where everyone was hanging and eating (potluck/buffet style). It probably helped that the cat mostly hid while everyone was over... And I also had a big Sur purifier going before everyone came over and while they were there. My one nephew did get hives, but I think that was from playing so much with my dog (he's allergic to both cats AND dogs) and letting the dog slobber all over him while playing. Everyone else was fine, even though they're all terribly allergic to cats! So for me, this shampoo was a win. Of course I had the house professionally cleaned before everyone came over, but the only day I could do that was 5 days before, whereas I didn't use this shampoo on the cat until two days before... So the cat technically had 3 days of dandering up my house after the pro cleaning and before I used this shampoo on him. I knocked off one star only because I had the air purifier going 24/7 during those five days between the pro cleaning and everyone coming over, so I think that also had a LOT to do with everyone not suffering allergies from my cat. In that respect, it wasn't a completely accurate representation of what this shampoo, and this shampoo ONLY, can/will do to reduce reactions for people with cat allergies. All of that being said, I'm very happy with this cat shampoo - and I'll definitely be using it again before having my cat allergic family members over to my house! The other nice thing is, it doesn't have any real scent that I noticed. So many pet products are horribly over-scented... But this shampoo is NOT one of them.
