Loved it so much that I’ve purchased a second one
I’ve been suffering from what’s being assumed by my doctor to be allergy-induced asthma. What started as normal seasonal allergies in the south (tons of pollen) with normal congestion and a dry cough quickly turned into full blown wheezing with lots of mucus production in my coughs and the closest thing to an asthma attack episode that I could compare to for someone who has never before had asthma. My doctor has been following up with me monthly with both visits and phone calls and combinations of medications and an inhaler which has helped but barely. I go see a specialist in a few weeks, so in the meantime I ordered one of these to help circulate some air in my home. Like many have said, I noticed a difference the first night it ran. My symptoms didn’t just magically disappear because of how bad they were but I could tell a difference the next morning in how they had changed. I’ve been able to cut back on how often I’ve been using my inhaler. It was prescribed to me to use two puffs every six hours as needed, but during the really bad episodes as it progressively got worse, I couldn’t wait that full six hours, I had to use it every two to four, but now I really only need it at night and I may take a single puff in the morning just to get me through the initial coughing spouts I have from waking up. It also makes my home smell fresher. I will add that my seasonal allergies are likely worsened by having three dogs, a cat and a rabbit that all live indoors. So when the seasonal allergies kicked in, the pet dander likely inflamed my lungs x10 but this air purifier has helped so much!

The cats and I love it so far!
I have two cats, and one of them has asthma. The vet recommended getting an air purifier to help with her symptoms, and it’s been great so far! I looked around at all of the different models and brands available on Amazon, and I based the purchase off of both reviews and ease of purchasing replacement filters. The size works perfectly and I have it on fan setting 2, and the white noise isn’t too loud. I work in my living room, so the cats and I spend most of our time out here from 9-5 M-F, and I’ve noticed that I’m not too sniffly while working (I also have allergies and asthma), and I just set the timer to 12 hours at 8am when I come in to start breakfast. The odor control is also great— I can’t smell meals or after the cats use one of the litter boxes. I’ll check back in with a more detailed review in another month or so!

Compact and useful HEPA filter; I've purchased two for bedrooms & travel
If you want a HEPA filter for a bedroom or for travel (by auto or when you can afford to carry LARGE suitcases, like on a cruise), the Levoit 200S is a great choice. Though another reviewer had the 200S confiscated by a cruise company, we were able to take ours aboard a ship in August 2022. We contacted the cruise line (Holland America Line) ahead of time by email, packed the 200S in its original box with the certification circled in Sharpie to highlight it, and also wrote "FAN, no heat!" on the box with a pen. (We taped the email where HAL told us it would be okay to use on the ship to the box, and also taped a cruise line issued luggage tag to the box for identification.) HAL inspected the unit as part of the checked luggage process, and it appeared in our room without any issue or further communication alongside our other luggage. The 200S in its box will fit in a large (deep) checked suitcase or an oversized tote bag. It isn't too heavy to carry, even for someone with arthritic joints, but it is rather bulky. For home use, anyone of any age or health status should be able to carry this to the desired room and set it up. All users should note that the filter is WRAPPED IN PLASTIC when the unit is brand new. If you don't unwrap the filter inside the plastic casing, your 200S will be totally unable to filter any allergens. Double check this upon receipt, though a sticker on the unit did remind me to take this step when I first unboxed my 200S HEPA machines. For a cruise stateroom, one of the top features of the 200S model in particular is the built in nightlight. My kids were in an inside cabin with no natural light, and the small nightlight was helpful at night. One of my teens will take this to college for use in a dorm, and the feature may also be good there. I tried a Levoit Mini, which is a nicer size for travel, but it is too small for most bedrooms and the lack of nightlight made me prefer to pack the larger 200S for our cruise. (I've added a photo showing the Levoit 200S stacked below the Levoit Mini along with a tiny PURE HEPA for size comparison for those seeking a travel HEPA option.) Best of all, the nightlight on the 200S is only a feature, and it can be shut off with a tap. The operating lights (glowing touchscreen "buttons") CAN ALSO BE TURNED OFF COMPLETELY, so this unit will run absolutely dark. If light bothers you when you sleep, as it does me, this is perfect. Switching the button lights off does make is somewhat harder to find the correct spot to tap to adjust the speed or turn the lights back on, but I only do this once per day typically, so it is well worth the tradeoff. The Levoit 200S will run totally dark, but there will always be a whirring fan noise because air movement is necessary for the filtration to occur. My kids dislike white noise and run the machine on low when they sleep. I find white noise soothing, and usually keep the unit in my bedroom on setting 2 of 3. If allergens seem bad, or during the day on the cruise ship when the cleaners would enter the room, we run the noisier setting 3 for maximum filtration. It's hard to quantify how well these remove allergens compared to other units, but I've seen good reviews of a related model in Wirecutter so I'm optimistic. Certainly, these are lighter in weight and more aesthetically pleasing than the Honeywell models I used back in the 1980's, though the old metal shells felt sturdier than today's plastic ones. No HEPA filter can work properly if it is undersized to the room, but combining two (or more) small machines in a larger room is an option. Having the internal fan pull in air at multiple points can actually work better than one stronger fan operating to one side of a large or irregularly shaped room. Since my bedroom is larger than the kids', we run two units to reduce allergens there, one one either side of our king sized bed. This isn't the model to buy if you want it to work alone in a large room, but it is reasonable for most small to moderately sized bedrooms. The larger the room, the higher the fan setting you'll need for it to be effective. Only air that passes through the filter has allergens removed from it. I've never bothered with the Smart features on this model. Since I'm trying to reduce allergens where I sleep, I can easily reach the controls. I use the nightlight as I get ready for bed and to walk from the bathroom without bright lights on, then I switch that off and climb into bed in full darkness. For me, this model is perfect.

Excellent for allergies and asthma, especially with pets!
This unit is great! We have pets and use in our bedroom, and it's not too large to put on the dresser. We put it on high for a few hours before bedtime, then lower it to the quietest setting for sleep, it is like white noise, not annoying. My wife has asthma and usually coughs nightly, often having to leave the room. Since using this unit, she has slept through the night, without coughing, and has noticed a huge difference in her coughing throughout the day. I have recommended to my sister who also has asthma.

Brilliant!
I bought this to replace another purifier where the maker withdrew the accompanying app, rendering it dumb. This one is a big improvement in many ways! I already own the big Levoit smart purifier (which does sterling work in my living room) so I knew the app and alexa integration would work fine with this smaller unit, and of course they do. I bought this one for my bedroom. It's a good size - not too big - and the control panel is intuitive and easy to use. It has a handy light behind it which you can switch on, off or dim. I've set up an alexa routine to use that as a night light - very handy! Even in high mode the sound is unobtrusive (its just white noise) and sleep mode is virtually silent. For a small unit it certainly moves air well. I vape and I can see the vapour being pulled towards it. Dust in our bedroom is reduced The app is well put together, simple to use and it works. Besides replicating the controls on the unit you can also set schedules and timers which mean you can fully automate running it. Setting the unit up takes seconds once you've removed the plastic from the filter (how anyone could miss the instructions to do that taped to the top of the unit I honestly don't know!) and downloaded the app. Super easy! I now wouldn't consider buying another brand of purifier now.

Changed my life
Okay that's probably a bit of an exaggeration, but my room feels so much better to be in now! I'm a student, and I've spent a lot of time wheezing, sniffing and itching myself to death in all the houses I've been in. It's not news to anyone the student houses are never in the best condition and these allergies seemed to follow me around every house I moved into. Until this. Literally within a couple of hours of this being on all my symptoms cleared up, and being in the room just feels more, refreshing? I can't put my finger on it but it really does make the air more crisp. I don't think this is just placebo either, one look at the HEPA filter and I can see why it's making such a difference, even after having it ~3 days I can see particulates embedded on the mesh, that would have otherwise ended up in my lungs/nose/eyes. Other positives is the sleep mode is basically silent, I cannot hear it whatsoever when I'm trying to sleep and the smart features work brilliantly with the ability to turn it on from where ever in the world you are as long as you have a wifi connection. The added light is a nice feature too (although RGB would have been a nice feature...) All in all can't reccommend this air purifier enough, and may well end up buying more for all the rooms in my house.

Very quiet for nighttime.
We find it perfect for nighttime use as it's quiet and we can turn off the console lights, as well as set the timer to turn the machine off. I still suffer from sinus issues but that could be dryness of our air. I'm very pleased with the degree of filtration this is graded for, which is recommended for proper filtration of the air for airborne germs. On higher fan speeds you will notice it in a quiet room, but not with guests. It's not unpleasant to us.
