Step up your mister game, with a few caveats.
I had some bad misting systems in the past from premade 1/4" mister lines to 1/2" pvc lines and was never happy with them. Either the cheap mister nozzles would clog or split and even when they did work the ground would be super wet and would leave calcium marks everywhere (didn't think we had very hard water). I had given up on misting system for about 10 years. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when at a local brewery that had a nice outdoor seating area an a crap-ton of misters that were PUMPING out really nice fine mist. It was so nice to sit outside even through it was HOT out. It was amazing that the ground wasn't really wet. A few beers deep, i started to research "commercial mister systems", now this Orbit Arizona Mister Booster Pump didn't really come up but i knew i needed a pump. I went searching for a reasonably priced pump (the brewery was probably using a 1000psi pump that was probably over $1k, a little out of my price range for a diy backyard job. In comes this pump. In my beer haze i quickly ordered a 1/4" kit that came with push connects and kept drinking. The next day when everything was delivered, i realized that i had made a mistake. This pump takes 3/8" line and just about 99% of all mister kits on amazon are either 1/4" or doesn't list the dimensions. I did what i should have done from the start and researched what was compatible and i saw that with this pump i'm basically locked into the Oribit 3/8 Professional kit (which isn't really sold on amazon). Luckily Lowes and Home Depot carry them for about $50/kit. Once i went and picked up a few kits and some other odds and ends i installed it and wow, its amazing. The mist is so much finer with the pump on than off. I'm super happy with the outcome! The pictures dont do it justice. And i hooked up a power meter and it draws about 48w while running.

Good mist in front of a AC heat pump.
I have used it in SC to enhance my AC heat exchanger. A bit like the cooling towers of high rise in NY.

Keep cooler
This pump elevates your mister system from mist to a fine fog, keeping you nice and cool but not damp. We use this daily during our 100+ temperatures in the summer.

Must have (if you have a compatible system)
This pump really does make a substantial difference in the water droplet size. I just upgraded my system from a standard-pressure system. Before, the patio would get quite wet underneath the nozzles. Now, just the railing gets a little bit wet. You can sit directly underneath the nozzles and not get soaked like before. The pump is very quiet. The only thing I could say negative so far is that the water hose connections are a little touchy. At first, I apparently had too much tension on the hose leading out of the pump because it eventually sprung a leak. I adjusted my set up to take much of the tension off the hose and let it hang as loosely as possible out of the exit valve. These snap-lok connections are a little sensitive. As I was making the adjustment, the connector fell out of the pump completely! I was relieved that it went back in okay and would have been really angry if I had to return the pump for that. So far, so good. Be sure to check your local big box home improvement store (the blue one) as they have lots of Arizona Mist parts as well. 7/7/11 Update: When I started my pump for the first time this year, it was not working as the water was not making it through the pump but just flowing out the bottom. I contacted Orbit, and they ended up replacing the pump. Fabulous customer service. They really stand behind their stuff. I'm a fan.

Gives the low pressure mister system a needed boost
Living in Arizona can be a challenge. A lot of time in the hot weather when you need the mister system, the water pressure is lowered so the mist is not effective. Putting in the pump makes the system viable. Glad I ordered it.

Big Difference
I added this booster pump to a misting system on a deck. It tripled the volume of water that came out of the nozzles and created a finer mist. I'm really happy with this purchase and I would recommend it.

If you want an inexpensive mist system pump, this is the one to buy.
I've tried several different brands of mist system pumps in the $100 to $140 range, and this is the only one that works as claimed. In Phoenix, Arizona I run 20 nozzles over 5 horse stalls and it puts out a fine, dry and refreshing mist. It does shut off occasionally to cool down, but turns back on automatically once cool. My horses are noticeably happier when it's 110 outside. I noticed a few reviews claiming it caused leaks in their mist hoses. Do not use the cheap Arctic Cove hoses that you get at Home Depot. They are weak garbage that can't even hold up to tap pressure. Order some high pressure 3/8 hose, available on Amazon. It plugs right in to this pump and works with 3/8 mist nozzles. I would also recommend getting an RV water pressure reducer so the water going in to your pump is at a constant 50psi. This will make your pump last and pressure coming out the nozzles will always be 160psi. Great pump!

This is the pump you need for an intermediate pressure system!
I hummed and hawed and stressed about how to set up my patio mist system. I eventually pulled the trigger on this pump, and I'm glad I did! It was the perfect "intermediate pressure" pump for my setup; it boosted pressure enough to make the nozzles really "vaporize" the water to cool the air rather than wet the surroundings, but it's not so high-pressure as to overwhelm the PVC piping I used to build my own system. A little pricier than I would have liked at around $100, after a summer's usage I would have to say it's been money well spent.
