Genuine Moen replacement part that costs $116.20 on Moen’s web site.

My bathroom sink’s drain pipe was leaking and I needed to replace it. First I called a plumber but he never returned my call so I decided to try fixing it myself. Next I went to YouTube and watched 3 or 4 video demonstrations on how to replace a sink drain pipe and decided that if I could remover the old pipe I should be able to install a new one. Next I went to Ferguson Plumbing, which is where I bought all of the plumbing parts back in 2009 when we remodeled our bathroom. Ferguson ordered different Moen parts twice, which may have worked but were not identical to what I had. I have matching side-by-side sinks and I wanted identical Moen parts so the sinks would remain identical after I fixed it. The top portion of the drain pipe that Ferguson ordered, which would have been visible when looking down on the sinks, was close but not identical. Ferguson told me that Moen no longer made the identical drain pipe I was replacing. I was not convinced. After searching Moen’s web site for a couple of hours I discovered Moen part 10790, which was the exact replacement part that matched my sinks. It cost $116.20 on Moen’s web site and it could be ordered from their web site. Since I had never ordered parts from Moen I did not know how much and how long their delivery was so I decided to search Amazon. I searched for Moen part 10790 on Amazon and found that it was sold and fulfilled by Amazon (not a 3rd party seller) for $79.23 with Prime delivery. I ordered the part from Amazon knowing it was discounted 32% from Moen’s price, that it would be delivered when promised (my part was delivered 1 day early), and that it was returnable with free shipping. I installed Moen part 10790 based on what I learned watching YouTube. No more leaks. If you have a Moen faucet that has a finish other than chrome (i.e. brushed nickel) you may also need Moen part 10709BN (brushed nickel) or whatever part matches your Moan faucet's finish. Part 10709 is intended to convert part 10790 (chrome) to match Moen's other finishes. Search for part 10709 on Moen's web site or on Amazon to see what I mean. Alternatively you may be able to reuse your existing stopper and trim ring insert of your existing Moen drain pipe. I reused these brushed Nickel parts from my old drain and they perfectly match my other sink. Perhaps not everyone is as picky as I in regards to ordering exact replacement parts. Other parts sold by Amazon at significantly lower prices may or may not have worked but for me this is exactly what I wanted at a fair price sold and fulfilled as only Amazon can do it.

Not so far

Genuine parts that genuinely don't fit. There appears to be a center, unnamed, plastic pieces. Mine rotten. So I guess I have to buy a new double sink because of it. Why do their Genuine parts not work. Scam. I guess I'll have to call a plumber which, was probably what the two industries would prefer.

Perfect fix for problems with Moen bathroom sink drain parts

Highly recommend it. It was exactly what we needed to repair our problem, and the parts were high quality. The directions were also clear and easy to follow, which is a rarity these days.

Great Replacement Product

We were very pleased with the quality of this replacement part for our bathroom faucet which is at least 25 years old. No plastic parts! Worst part was getting the old part off.
