“Something Went Wrong!” …Yes, with the development team!

I’m a Computer Engineer and SW Developer… setting this up for my DTV+ Shower system. The device registration process works fine up to the point where my Konnect Hardware module successfully connects to my home network (verified). Unfortunately, the APP never catches the notification that this was successful and never completes the setup process. I worked with Kohler Konnect Technical Support until they ran out of ideas. I went so far as to set up a dedicated “2.4GHz Only” wireless network with 1 WAP so both my iPhone 12 and the Kohler Konnect module were talking on the same device. Still didn’t work. I’ve easily tried this process about 40+ times with many permutations. No dice. I tried multiple devices and it worked once with my son’s iPhone XR. Unfortunately, even though it is the same account, it doesn’t provision the app on my iPhone 12… so that didn’t really help. I was never able to successfully repeat the setup process on my son’s XR, so evidently the planets had aligned for one brief moment in time. This is clearly a poorly designed architecture with an app that misses a single success token. It needs rewritten to be more robust and tested with a variety of devices. So far DTV+ and the Konnect module have been a colossal waste of money and an enormous source of frustration. Don’t bother telling me to call Kohler for further assistance since they have no idea how to make it work. If you are considering the Kohler DTV+ System… don’t waste your money, you’ll only be frustrated by the poor performance. Kohler, update this garbage APP/ System Architecture!

Stopped working

Bought this expecting it to work but like most Kohler DTV products, the concept is great but Kohler’s execution is poor and their follow up support is even worse. This product initially worked albeit very temperamental. In Early 2022 it stopped working completely. After trying multiple attempts to reconnect wifi, I contacted Kohler and they told me that the unit I had was not able to be updated via software downloads and thus, I would have to ship it back to them to get it reprogrammed. I asked if they had notified customers and they told me No. So, basically they sold a product that couldn’t be updated and then didn’t notify customers. I’m still waiting on my replacement for several weeks now. Kohler should sell basic plumbing products and stay out of tech. Their tech acuity is not good. My entire DTV+ system has had so many problems and components replaced in 5 years, it scares me to think I may have to rip apart my entire bath at some point to replace this system.

Worthless product, Kohler can't or won't solve the internet connection problems with this product

I've owned this Konnect module for 3 years and it has been completely worthless. If you're lucky enough to get it to register with the Kohler Konnect app or with the Alexa skill, you will have have to physically power cycle this thing every few days/weeks. That involves unplugging both the main controller AND the power supply for the valve for 1 minute or longer. This quickly become far more trouble than any benefit. I have had numerous calls with customer support and firmware updates. None of which have provided any long term improvement. And even when the Konnect it freshly power cycled, good luck keeping the Alexa skill connected. That seems to need to be Disabled/Enabled every few days also. In short, Kohler's 'smart home' features are no ready for prime time and in the past 3 years I haven't seen any improvement in my experience.
