I bought this lamp to use at my desk to better see the computer keyboard. As noted by others, the bottom is very heavy, making it quite sturdy. Also previously noted, the globe, while frosted, emitted too much light and was bothersome, as it sits within 18" on my eyes. I tried a lower watt bulb, but it was still annoying. So, after some thought, I decided to paint the inside of the globe with a tan color paint. My wife thinks I am crazy, but this worked like a charm. I now only get light directed at my keyboard, and not into my eyes! Also, the dangling cord can be "fixed" with 2 small black zip ties which holds it in place and makes it much less noticeable. You would think with these necessary "fixes" I would give it a 3 or 4 star review, but it really is exactly what I needed for my desk, and there are few alternative that look this nice.

Seems well made, and is definitely a winner in the right spot.

This lamp did not at all work where I hoped it would, because the glass glows so brightly in such concentrated spot, that it was both a bit blinding and failed to diffuse the light very far. But then I stuck it nearer the corner of the room, and it's perfect. It glows up that corner, making the room feel far more ambient, and the light bounces off the walls to diffuse a bit better. Plus, since it's the corner, it isn't distracting how brightly the globe glows. Plus, the look of it is just the perfect mix of industrial reclamation chic and classic. Very pleased.

Ugly cord is not shown in the picture.

Overall, this lamp seems well made and came in good condition. What is not obvious in the pictures is the that lamp cord extends out from the U shaped piece and is kind of an eyesore. I had assumed that the cord would come out of the base, which would be typical. It makes it look much worse than expected.

It does not look good the way they have wired this

I agree on the previous comments about the cord. I had assumed it would not be hanging down the front of the lamp....but I too was wrong. It does not look good the way they have wired this, should be coming out the bottom and out of site.

Great Table Lamp!

zowie! this is a fabulous lamp. although it had to be assembled (grrr), it could be done without reading the boring directions. the lamp's height is easily lowered or raised & the 60 watt bulb throws off a good reading light. the lamp's one drawback is that its switch is located on the cord. somehow that placement doesn't seem as sturdy as one on the lamp itself.

Better than expected.

Beautiful lamp. I ordered 2 for nightstands in a large room. They are attractive, better than pictured and provide ample light. Adjustable height. I got them on sale which made them even better. Arrived way faster than was expected.

It is easy to assemble but the cord is most unsightly. Sturdy but doesn't stand very straight.
