Beautiful vivd colours

Quality build & lovely vivd colors. Separates the poor from the good by far. But it has its own issues regarding the app & connectivity. I found that the app goes dark alot, meaning unable to use the features. I had to use a smart plug so, I can switch it on /off when the app plays up. A bit pricey for a unworthy app. Works with Flic, Alexa, and many more voice commands. Worth having at a reasonable price.

Good but consistent concurring problems so be cautious

This item has caused me multiple headaches ever since buying it over 6 months ago and I held off on reviewing this because maybe I was just dumb and wasn’t making it work properly but no, it’s always some sorta technical issue that revolves around problem solving for a few minutes to hours. There’s also days where it just randomly doesn’t work, the light turns on but it doesn’t connect and change colors a lot. I moved this beam around my bedroom a few times and changing the settings as stated to troubleshoot random problems I was having in order to try pinpointing the problem but then it just randomly stops working. It’s not damaged either. I’m very careful while moving it and it’s in a dry safe environment. Maybe it’s my WiFi box because I have too many stuff connected, nope turns out that it’s still there and authorized on the list and within a couple of feet away from the box. I have to disconnect and reconnect this one repeatedly and at times it just lights up only half the beam with white light and doesn’t connect and stays like that for a day or 2 until it just randomly decides to work again I guess. Weird and I’m still trying to figure that out but it’s not my wall sockets either because I tried multiple and this is a relatively new house just 3 years old. Also the animation option especially is usually very glitchy and another big issue. It doesn’t fully work and it doesn’t always work on every light and doesn’t change the color properly and instead just goes back to standard 1 solid color rotations. I’m sure others have the same problem still. Not a week goes by that I have some issue with this one beam specifically. I bought 2 beams and 4 strips from LIFX. I didn’t drop the item or the packaging either so it’s either very sensitive to disconnecting or there’s some sort of technical issue with the product itself from the very beginning but I’m just very exhausted from giving this product the benefit of the doubt when it causes me a lot of unnecessary headaches each week with some issue. I absolutely love the lights though so this is why it makes it difficult to rate it a lower amount because I generally love it but it’s undeniable the multiple problems this item keeps causing but it also has to be brought to the attention of curious potential customers. Also their isn’t a lot of options available to choose from and they need to change that or bring back that custom option from the old app that’s absent in the new update because these options can get old fast. Maybe that was causing issues too. Also please come out with a version that doesn’t have a wire possibly. Maybe like a removable rechargeable battery pack in one of the beams that transfers that power through the magnets when you line them up but you can still plug it in to recharge from time to time. It would make room placement a little easier and more cleaner looking. Who knows maybe it’s a logistics issue and price per battery per unit it’s not that hard of an idea to think of but quality of life will improve for this I believe. I want it to be known to potential customers that I still do not regret buying this item since it has made my room look so much better and vibrant, but you will definitely have problems with this product and it’s up to you if you want to continue to go through with information from my experience. Room for improvement is definitely there.

The Lifx Beam is absolutely amazing

Just like with every other product you're going to have troubleshoot through minor issues until you get everything up and running. There is nothing wrong with this product at all, i've had my beam for 3 years and it still works fantastic. The app is a little glitchy but honestly once you turn it on and see just how amazing this light is you'll forget ALLLL about the little minor annoyances. The Polychrome technology is what makes this product when my beam finally dies i plan on repurchasing.

Looks cool but lacks features. - Yes, it is dimmable

Let me first say that LifX products are the best you can buy. I have Lifx bulbs for over 4 years and they are still running great. The colors of Lifx bulbs are the brightest and richest in colors than Phillips or other companies. Where LIFX fails is there execution of products. For the beam: Pros: Very cool looking. Pretty colors. Easy to Install Some customizations kind of decent App Cons: Way To Bright! - I wish they engineered this to where it did not get so bright. That way I could have it at a low brightness and still retain the same rich contrast as is when it is bright. The contrast lessens alot at lower levers and is not as rich. Just to be clear, I can dim it at acceptable level(ie 2%). The issue is it is just not as rich in contrast. Customizations - I wish I could set it to just two colors and have it morph between the two colors. But instead they have a similar option which just changes colors by degrees. Not the same. Most of the customizations are not really cool. The only one I like is the move one. App - the app has come a long ways. It is decent. But it could still use alot of UX improvement. The palate screen has a issue - After your do a swip up and down, the event for detecting the swip goes away and you can no longer swipe up and down the colors. Instead, it just swips the whole device down and you have to start over. For $150.00 and it's lack of customizations for effects, it being way to bright(can't have the same rich contrast at low levels), it's def. not worth it. Will I keep it? I might just because it does look really cool despite it's pathetic downfalls. And I have money to burn. By now you would think LifX would know how to make features. But nevertheless, they make the best color lights and they do the fundamental job better than any other colored light company.

Si te gustan los gadgets de casa inteligente, no dudes en adquirir esta moderna opción para iluminación. Yo coloqué el mío en mi habitación y tienes decenas de opciones tanto de colores como de intensidades. Me dio un poquito de lata el setup, pero nada que te rompa la cabeza, creo era mas que nada por una inestabilidad en mi wifi de casa.
