Finished product is beautiful!
This is definitely a raw product when it arrives. They were individually wrapped, bronze colored screw included. I suppose you could use as is. But the light stain really brought out the wood grain. I would recommend atleast clear coating them. One of thre metal panels on the rear was glued on oh so slightly crooked but it made no difference. I was able to mount the plate level fitting perfect around the outlet. I did a quick 400 grit sanding before staining with Minwax "natural" color. Sand again, stain again, light sanding then clear coat 2x. I will definitely order more for future projects.

Great Product
These are great looking wall plate covers. The wood is beautiful and they seem very well made. Unfortunately I needed them to go up against some chair molding and they are just a hair too large. Would buy again and would highly recommend these wall plate covers.

Simple product, doesn't take stain well.
I believe the wood is treated, so it doesn't take a stain very well. Otherwise it produced a near desired effect.

way better than plastic
Well-constructed, well-cut, thick enough so as not to break. Larger than the average outlet. In the photo, these are a light-colored wood and this is an accurate depiction, but when I installed them, their color darkened quite a bit because they were no longer up to the light. Attaching photo so you can see what I mean. They're cut well but since they're wood, they're bound to have little nicks and shavings so I hand-sanded them a little (easy to do). They come with tiny brown screws so if you need screws longer than .25 inch, you may have to make a trip to the hardware store. Make sure you look at your outlets and get the right type; I made the mistake of getting too many of these when some of my outlets don't have one screw in the middle (they have two -top and bottom). If you decide to paint them, make sure to sand them first by hand and use a small roller to apply the paint. If you use a brush or a squeegie, the paint will build up or leave marks. If you are creative and want a DIY lightswitch, this is an excellent base to add clay to.

Beautiful wood grain.
Like the double switch plate I ordered like these, the woodgrain is gorgeous. If I hadn't already decided to paint them to coordinate with my living room, I would have just clear coated them!

These are oversized and look tacky. Try Home Depot instead.
