Whimsical design, eyecatching sculpture

Be forewarned that this design is larger than you probably imagined. It comes double-boxed and is hefty. My wife smiled when she first saw it, as it has a whimsical design. The eyes/antennae are separately wrapped and insert into the sculpture. We intend to put this into the garden in Spring. It can be used indoors either on the floor or a shelf. The resin composite construction is good. A small chip on the front was 'fixed' using a Sharpie pen. The sculpture was shipped with crumbly, styrofoam shipping panels that create quite a mess during the unpacking stage.

A whimsical reminder to take life easy ....

This is a nice statue for yard use. It feels solid and looks like a stone / cement bit of statuary. It adds a little whimsy to a yard. It has a little bit of weight and definitely looks heavier than it actually is. Our little friend will have a place in our Florida yard amidst palm trees. The packaging though was horrible and the Styrofoam was extremely difficult to deal with. Tons of static laden styro pieces. Drove me nuts for about 20 minutes.

This snail is no pest

I received this snail before gardening season started, so I set it under my piano in my living room until it was time to landscape. I did this without mentioning it to the rest of my family. It blended in surprisingly well, so it took several days before some family members noticed that we had a visitor. Now there is quite a bit of support for letting our snail live inside permanently. It's attractive enough to do so, but it it will also do extremely well outside. The snail's shell slants backward and is heavily weighted, so it is not likely to tip over, even in our prairie winds. The only assembly is to attach the eyes and antennae (a single piece) into the top of the snail's head. In fact, the only unpleasant part of this snail is unpacking it, as some of the styrofoam crumbled in the box, forcing a big, messy cleanup which included hand picking shreds of styrofoam off the rough surface. A time-consuming process, but worth it.

A unique and attractive addition to a nicely landscaped yard.

This is a unique looking snail that has found a place in our newly landscaped front yard. I looks like it's made of stone but it's not. It's a resign material and only weighs 11 pounds which is light enough to be moved to a different location easily but heavy enough that it doesn't blow over on those strong windy days, which we do get up here in Anacortes, WA

Looks much better than the photo suggests

First off it is a lot lighter than I was expecting something of this size to be, even considering it's mainly a plastic resin build. Anyway, out of the box you need to assemble the snail's eyes and then away you go. I am impressed with the quality of the cast, and the resin itself. The fact that some crushed stone is in the makeup would probably be missed if you didn't know prior, but on close inspection you can see the quality it adds to the overall look of the statue. I mentioned that it looks better in real life than it does in the product photo, and that's because the photo can't really get the smooth curves of the statue across. It is a very smoothly designed shape, and sits very well in the right setting. It has no edges to it, and the overall feel of it speaks to the name of the statue as a calming and relaxing piece. For those who might balk at the price, I'd say that it's worth it really, because it is a very well made and pretty unique product.

Snail garden statue

4.5 stars if possible, because it is great, but it's only downside is it does seem £20 more expensive than it should be for what you get. The build quality is decent - it's lighter than expected as it's not solid stone, but resin with a crushed real stone covering. It's made very well, but the snail design itself is a little basic. This would look nice engrossed in some plants or allowing something to grow around it; compared to other Toscano designs, it looks a bit plain standalone. It's heavy and stable enough though to not blow away or tip over. I've attached pictures that hopefully illustrate its size - it comes delivered in two parts with the metal eyes seperate, and really simply you just put them in to the head and they fix in well. The box arrives with polystyrene and it's a mess when you get it out, i'd fully recommend opening it outside. (Or be prepared to vacuum)

Not heavy but lovely effect

First off i was surprised at how light this was as i expected something heavier. Fab detail and not tacky at all. Love the stone effect finish which blends in anywhere you wish it to go. Nice item but i think a littlr over priced.
