Awesome tongs, truly heavy duty!

I often take a while to review products, I like to test out items thoroughly before leaving feedback. These tongs have truly earned 5 stars, & then some. When I first received these, my first thought was "Woah, they're heavy, yay!" Husband said they were exactly like the tongs chefs used in the restaurants that he worked at- tongs that would get thrown across the room, hit the wall, get a rinse & go right back to work without a flaw. I believe it. They are sturdy, have a solid grip, are easy to handle & keep closed around objects, are proven durable, gorgeous, & so daggum useful. I've used them to pick up cast iron pans out of fires, turn coals over, flip foil packages, turn sausages without tearing the casing, spin pizza pans in my conventional oven, fish out bones from stock pots before filtering the liquid, & whatever else comes to mind where I want to reach something hot. They keep a firm grip on food without being destructive, they are easy to handle, easy to clean. I store them on a hook on my wall, they cannot fit in my over-stuffed drawers & utensil barrels, but that's not a problem at all for me. After months of hard use, they still look & act like brand new. 100% satisfied with these & would highly recommend them.

Great Extra Heavyweight and Strong Tongs

I bought these for a very specific purpose--picking cactus fruit. We have a large number of cactus plants which yield a lot of fruit--I picked 75 pounds this year for making cactus juice we use for sorbet, ice cream, and bread. I need a strong set of tongs to stand up to picking all that fruit. These do that. The cost is barely more than the heavyweight variety but if you want tongs that will last, these are what you want.

Tongs used in a high volume steak house

These are the tongs all of us guys use on the line to cook with. They are not cheap and flimsy like other tongs and hold up for a long time, we usually replace them every once year because we beat the crap out of them, at home use it should last forever. No locking mechanism included because these are marketed towards restaurants, if you want that go to Walmart.
