The only boots I wear for railroad work.
I've had about four pairs of these boots because they are the most comfortable boots I've found in my 30+ year railroad career.

Best boots for being on your feet all day
My husband has been though multiple boots in just the past year. He is on his feet all day and highly recommends these. He also said half the guys he works with wear these boots

Comfortable work boot - early impressions
Four stars for good initial impression; the fifth star will be earned if comfort and durability are good after a month or two. I am always hesitant buying shoes online, because I am a little particular about how they fit. I read as many comments as I could find on the fit of these boots, and decided to order a 1/2 size large in regular width to avoid pinch points and crowding when wearing warm socks. I have worn them for 2 half-days now, with no notable discomfort or bad spots. I would recommend NOT upsizing, order your regular size and width, the last will feel slightly snug in the mid section but in a supportive, not constricting, manner - exactly as described by Keen. The toe box is generous and comfortable, and the 'ergonomic' steel toe shape is much more comfortable crouching and bending than a standard steel toe cap. The heel cup is nicely supportive without making any pinch points, I expect these boots to feel nice after a long day. The pictures don't really represent the toe shape quite true to life, these have a slightly bulbous look to the toe where the outer expands a little to make extra room for the generous toe box. It may be a slight illusion due to the rubber toe wrap, but these are not the best looking casual shoe - they are a functional design that feels great, but will look a little odd around town. (Guys on the job site have complimented their looks, but they definitely look like a work boot, not a casual shoe!) The sole and insole have a thick, rigidly flexible feel - it is unique, I will hold on judgement until I have worn them for a few weeks, but I think they will be functional and comfortable. Toe area flexibility (sole, and upper, including the steel toe edge section) is the best I have ever felt in a work boot. I may use these for some trail hiking as well as work, the sole is not as aggressive as most trail hikers but has an amazing grip around the job site, they feel like they have suction cups on rubber roof membrane and slick painted surfaces in the rain. I will update after I have worn them for a reasonable period and under more circumstances, and eventually down the road with wear and tear.

Time Will Tell.....
I recently purchased these boots to replace some Carharrt flexfit workboots. These are the first Keens I ever bought. The Keens were much more comfortable out of the box then most other leather boots I have owned. The steel toes are wide enough to give my toes plenty of room and there were no pinch points I could feel when I put them on. It seemed like a break in period was non existant. The leather seems to be of high quality and the metal eyelets seem like quality as well. The laces seemed to be a little long for a 6" boot so I made a new pair from some black paracord I had laying around. I use a small piece of shrink tubing on the ends of the paracord so it is easier to feed through the boots eyelets, that was one of the best ideas I ever came across on the internet. Anyways, back to the boots. I have only had them a couple of days so I am not sure how well they will hold up, which is why I only gave them 4 stars. Since these are direct attachment soles, I am going to assume the weakest point on these will be the glue that holds the sole to the leather boot. Most of the boots I have owned start to seperate on the edges from the boot flexing. This can probably be alleviated by keeping an eye on them and using a little shoe goo if they start to seperate. I wear workboots 6 to 7 days a week. If I get two years out of them i will be happy. I work at a lumberyard so my boots do not take as hard of a a beating compared to someone who is in the field all day. I always preserve my boots with Obenaufs heavy duty LP. I will update my review when I find out how long they last.

The best part I think besides the comfort of course is ...
I have bought keens for the last three years as they are the only brand that will last me a whole year. The last pair I bought were the Cleveland model, very well made but the glue holding the bottom on peeled away from the side of the boots a little but not enough to leak or come off any more than just a bit. The two pairs before that were the Detroits. Those held up for a whole year also. The best part I think besides the comfort of course is the rubber cover over the toes. I'm very hard on my boots and the other brands I've tried before all wore a hole in the top of the toes from being on the cement floor on my knees so much. The rubber cover holds up much better than leather of the timberlands and dr. Martin's and Carolinas I've had in previous years. They all got so bad that the steel toe cap actually fell out of the hole so I knew it was time for a change. This new pair of size 13 ee mt. Vernon boots are holding up better than all other boots from any brand I've tried even before said keens. They have the locking laces two speed laces from the top like all my previous keens and they're just plain comfy. I'll never buy from another brand again unless I get a couple pairs of lemons in a row. They're made in America too. They are a bit expensive but I believe you get what you pay for and they'll go down in price in the next year or two. They feel well made and the stitching is flawless and triple stitched. Great quality and longevity I'd only expect from keen.

Good But........
I recently purchased these because I could no longer find The "Hamilton Cobalt" model of Keen Shoe. These are an OK shoe but I liked the Hamilton's better. I've since purchased a pair of the "Pittsburg" model which seems Identical to the Hamilton's . I personally like the "Pittsburg" shoes better.
