Outdoors only for me...

I bought three watches in just a few days, with this Timex being one. It is a very nice watch with two exceptions, one of which is easily rectified and the other maybe being a deal breaker for some. First, mechanically this watch is very well built. It instills confidence that it can be worn in real world situations without fear. After charging on a window sill, it has maintained flawless operation without deviating from the time hack that I initially did against my atomic wall clock. I have no feeling that the cost is not worth it. First issue, change the strap. The NATO supplied with the watch is too flimsy for the heft. The bragging rites of being constructed from recycled materials means little if the strap holes elongate after only three outings. I bought a sub twenty dollar leather strap and it improved everything about the wearing of the watch. Last negative issue, if you have old eyes (like me) and are not in good outdoor light, the numbers are pretty much invisible. I don't understand how the designers could come up with such a low contrast face. For me, this watch will only be worn when I know that I'll be outside. This is sad because I really like it, but call me crazy, I should be able to tell the time when I look at it... in any moderate light.

Nice Watch but…

Nice Watch overall. The dial contrast is really poor. It’s worse than the picture would seem to indicate. Very difficult if not down right impossible to read anything on the dial.

Nice watch! Good looking and it's a Timex! What else can I say except it takes a licking and keeps on ticking :) Bought it for my Grandson and he loves it !!

I wanted to like this watch as a first-serious watch purchase

I looked all around for inevitably a solar watch with key aspects, saphire, quality-solar, name brand or decent warranty, field and decent looking. The choice to mute colors with a sub-par lume just makes this a dealbreaker unworthy of ownership. I wouldve liked more vibrant existing green/white shades and the ugly cheap looking trendy strap with the gunmetal just none of this makses sense. I wanted a Timex to be my first real watch purchase, because they often nail the desirable styles for a classy rugged look-feel but like so many other manufacturers they just have to miss the mark with either mineral face glass on a nice style solar, or an ugly style with sapphire. So I just ask, what is wrong with everyone these days why is everything/one so ugly. Returning this for a microbrand with better styling and longer warranty most likely. Unfortunate, these manufacturers cant keep a style effective, or just plain classy.

Looks great when well lit.

It really is a well built watch and looks nice when well lit. Unfortunately it's completely useless as soon as you walk into a dimly lit room. I really don't know what they were thinking here. Outside in daylight it's a great looking watch that feels nice on the wrist.

Does what I want. A solar watch I don't need to think about that looks nice.

I mean, it does what I want. I don't think about charging it, I never have to clean or maintain it. It feels nice, way nicer than a cheaper Timex. The crystal is clear and cleans off nicely. The case feels premium to match the price tag. I charged it once and never thought about it again. You'll notice when it's low on juice when it ticks two seconds at a time. Just throw it in the sun for a bit. It will go back to full charge. I only had to do that on day one. Since then, never needed. It's my new daily driver and I will say I enjoy wearing it.

Loved it, until it stopped working

I have charged it in direct sunlight for 3 hrs + and it still keeps stopping. Sending it back for a replacement.

Great watch with a sub-standard strap

I can't fault the watch. It is a good size with suitable heft for a solid looking watch. The strap is a joke, it is thin, short and with a cheap look and feel. It is entirely unsuitable for a watch of this weight. Perhaps the strap would better suit a toy watch or a fitness band. I have had to order a strap to replace, and that has added £10 to the overall cost. If this is really a NATO strap typical of that used by the armed forces then it is not fit for purpose, nor for everyday civilian wear. Great watch, pathetic strap notwithstanding.

Die ihr ist einfach enttäuschend

Leider verspricht die Uhr nicht annähernd das wofür sie angepriesen wird. Das Ablesen des Uhrzeit ist auf Grund des geringen Kontrasts vom Zifferblatt schwierig, ebfalls schwierig ist das Ablesen des Datums. Desweiteren ist das Armband ein Witz. Es ist eindach, plump ausgedrückt, viel zu schlabberig. Es kann die Uhr nicht halten. Ich habe mich letztendlich für eine Citizen entschieden in einer ähnlichen Preiskategorie. Man bekommt einfach mehr Uhr für einen ähnlichen Preis. Die Times wirkt für mich am Arm ein wenig billig. Da hilft auch kein Saphirglas.
