exactly what I was looking for

I bought the 14 inch version. This is a very heavy duty commercial grade whip. I was looking for something that could whip a big kettle of mashed potatoes and this is it. Once the potatoes are mashed this whip has no trouble whipping the potatoes. No doubt that this will last me my lifetime.

Great whisk

Like all Winco products, this is sturdy and very well made. It's hefty, too. One thing to keep in mind: this product is built for use in commercial kitchens, so most home cooks may find it a bit unwieldy to use. Also, the wires are MUCH thicker than most whisks for home use. Keep this in mind before ordering: this is not a whisk to use for making a small amount of pan sauce, or for whipping egg whites; it's for beating thick batters.

I ordered a 12 inch whisk. What arrived was comically huge... It's gigantic. It is nearly 24 inches long from hilt to tip. I will never use this, its too darn big, but I'm keeping it for decorative purposes. Meanwhile, its heavy duty and very well made. I am going to buy a smaller one from this seller because the quality is definitely there.

A Perfect Bargain - Buy Two!

Absolutely the best whisk I've ever purchased and a bargain to boot! I do a lot of cooking and usually go through at least one whisk a year as they rust and the wires get spread apart and loose from heavy usage. This whisk is commercial grade, heavy duty. I'd like to address the "complaints" of a few other reviewers who erroneously believed that the "nipple" of wire at the tip of the whisk was a design or manufacturing flaw. The extended tip is for scraping the corners of a pan while whisking and it is the greatest thing since white bread. Usually, I have to use two utensils when stirring gravy, pudding, sauces on the stove as the regular whisk does not reach the corners/edges of the pan and if not stirred, results in burnt on sauce all around the edges of the pan. The extended tip of this whisk easily reaches into the corners and edges and it's design ensures that the wires will say in place. I liked it so much I bought two of them, a 10" and a 14' and I anticipate many years of usage from each.

Worst whisk I ever purchased

This thing is more of an imitation of a whisk than a real one. The wires are so thick they have no flexibility. It's like whisking with a hammer. Then the top holds things together and protrudes out just enough to catch leftover batter in it, making it hard to clean or reuse while you mix things around in the kitchen. I would have returned if I could. Completely useless junk.

The wire gauge on the 12 inch French whip is much, much thicker than it appears in the photo

I've never had a whisk this stout before, and frankly I love it. No batter is too thick, no gravy too rich for this thing! My only very slight annoyance is that, even though it is clearly marked as an FN-12, it's not really a French style -- it's much closer to a traditional balloon whip shape. Other french whisks I've used were much narrower for stirring deep pots and getting into nooks and crannies. Still, for $11, this thing is hard to beat. By which I mean it is EASY to beat things with it.
