Exceptional Tool

It is reassuring that there are still high quality, exceptionally well made, tools that will do what they are intended to do. These are tools for the professional. Having said this, they are a fine choice for anyone looking to invest in something that is well made and meant to last, as opposed to so much of what is available these days. Well worth every penny.

Powerful punch in petite package!

When it comes to wire, these flush cutters pack a powerful punch in a small, comfortable package. I was working on the underside of a deck that had numerous staples through it that were way too long for the application. Not only were the staples in the way, but it also only takes just a couple of them stabbing you in the head to get a real distaste for them. I had a pair of red handle Klein flush cutters that worked until i noticed i had completely chewed up the cutting surface - making them essentially useless for everything else. When i went on amazon to get another pair, I looked for another flush cutter that might be able to handle the hardness of the staple, but be easier to manage than a set of nippers. I found these, and immediately saw all the different sizes and wondered if i needed the biggest ones or would one of the smaller pairs work. After reading reviews, i landed on these and i do not regret buying them at all. Not only are they incredibly ergonomic, the cutting surface is apparently made of some steel that thinks its as hard as diamonds. The cutters made mincemeat out of the staples and left me feeling like the cutters were doing all the work - no fatigue. You feel like you should have a much larger tool in your hand than you actually do. You can see the cutting edge is still in perfect condition after cutting hundreds of staples that shredded my poor little Klein’s. These cutters are also shown next to the new pair of Klein’s. The Klein’s will always reside in my small tool pouch - they are too handy, small and inexpensive to not have a pair. Likewise these knipex cutters will always reside in my tool bag because they are a powerful tool in a relatively small package. It makes me want to try one of the larger pairs to see if they will cut nails - i would do anything to avoid having to tie both hands up with a pair of nippers.

The right tool

I wanted to cut stainless still mesh (1mm opening), into 1" round discs, from 12" square stock. Tin snips worked for getting 1" squares, with some work. I had to stay in track, cutting one wire at a time. They could not cut a curve. Tried lineman pliers, side cutters, not doing it. Bought a pair of hobbyist wire cutters, for $15, still not working. Overpriced. The stainless was too tough. These are fantastic. Small enough for detail work, but cutting power for the stainless. A very nice tool. For what they are, size, shape, features, I believe this is as good as you could buy, at even twice the money.

GREAT Quality

Nice product. Not cheap YET DEFINITELY worth the cost. Barbed wire wrapped around my brushcutter was a major challenge. These KNIPEX cutters saved my knuckles and fingers from the major pain that I normally experience when clearing barbed wire with cheaper cutters that just don't work. What a relief.

Is there better?

These are likely the last pair of wire cutters I will ever need. I am just a homeowner/DIY guy so if some exotic tool maker makes a better tool than this I will never need it.

This thing eats through nails like they were pieces of spaghetti. Chomp chomp chomp! So satisfying. So much better than any other alternative that I know of for getting rid of nails that are poking out.

Well made pair of cutters

Leaving the Knipex hipe on the side, I can tell that they are well made. Sharp and easy to hold, can cut trough screws with some effort and cables are not a problem for them. I couldn't cut very thin sheet metal, but they are not designed for that. I will recommend to someone that look after the tools and enjoy using quality. Or people that use them on a regular basis for work, so the price difference between a cheaper set is justified. If you are "saving" to get a decent pair of cutting pliers, might not be the best choice. Since a tool is mean to be used without hesitation or fear of damaging it and this ones are to pretty to use them as a hammer. Even though I believe they can take the beat!

Buona ,ma non ottima

Attrezzo di un certo "peso" con impugnatura confortevole, esprime un ottimo senso di solidita'. Provata con viti truciolari media durezza da 4mm ,chiodi da 3mm e roba sottile abbastanza tenera . Per tagliare taglia,nel senso che se avete a che fare fil di ferro,rete elettrosaldata da 2 mm et simila compratela ad occhi chiusi. Per recidere con scioltezza viti ,chiodi ecc va bene fino a 2-2.5 mm, andando oltre lo sforzo sulla leva diventa discretamente impegnativo (anche se i taglienti non sembrano soffrirne per nulla),ergo per questi impieghi consiglio la classica tagliabulloni. Se potete ,comprate la versione da 250 mm : non sara' compattissima ma avrete molta piu' leva sulla quale agire.

Poor quality control and performance

For the price you would expect the fit and finish to be perfect and it's not. They arrived with no packaging. The center joint was all rusted. The finishing on the jaws need work. Compared to the nine and a half inch linesman pliers they struggled cut through it 1/8 inch steel wire. This might be good for someone but not for me.

Knipex-Qualität

Ein sehr ordentlicher Seitenschneider!! Auch ein 5-poliges 1,5mm² Kabel kann man damit mit vernünftigem Krafteinsatz abschneiden und das ist für mich durchaus ein Kriterium und ein Qualitätsmaßstab. Diese Zange würde ich nicht mehr hergeben. Für feinere Arbeiten ist es sicher von Vorteil, noch einen kleineren Seitenschneider zusätzlich zu haben (160er o.ä.), aber für normale Hausinstallation ist der hier ideal Die Griffe sind hochwertig, angenehm und rutschen nicht, die Zange liegt gut in der Hand, die Schneiden sind scharf und exakt (kein Versatz, kein Spalt) und das Gelenk lässt kein Spiel erkennen Volle Kaufempfehlung von mir!

Größer als erwartet, aber..

..entsprechend auch unhandlicher.. Die Griffigkeit ist nicht das Problem, sondern dass der Seitenschneider relativ sperrig ist.. Dies erschwert feinere Ausarbeitungen; für den üblichen Zweck eines Seitenschneiders ist dieser echt gut für den akzeptablen Preis.. Grundsätzlich würde ich jedem, der etwa "basteln" wollen würde eher ein Set empfehlen, wo mehrere Zangen inbegriffen sind. Insgesamt kann ich gut und gerne 4,0 Sterne geben.. Es ist noch Luft nach oben, aber das Produkt in seinem jetzigen Stand, ist absolut brauchbar. Knippex scheint echt gute Werkzeuge zu produzieren!
